We had a great day out at QAM. Corbin was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. The volunteers are obviously passionate about their museum and the stories they have to share make this a memorable experience. The exhibits are both interesting and informative, lots of facts for little minds to absorb. Our 8yo loved it! It's a little expensive at $60 for a family but I imagine there's a lot of behind the scenes magic that goes on in order to keep the lights on so it's worth it! This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last.

We did the the F111 tour. The tour guides were very knowledgeable, informative and helpful.
After this we toured the museum which held a great variety of planes to see.
We thought it was great value for money
Would highly recommend this museum and tour

The obvious in depth knowledge of exhibits and of aviation related topics by volunteer staff. The museum gets very busy on open cockpit days and queues for the F111 cockpit can be long. Other days are less frenetic and a whole day can be spent wandering down memory lave for those who were involved in aviation.

A great find. Staying in Caloundra over the weekend for the first time and noticed signs to the museum. Picked up a brochure from our accomodation and decided to go. The museum has a lot of exhibits and is well laid out.

Entrance was not the cheapest, but if it helps the team if volunteers to continue operating the museum and restoring historic aircraft then it is worth it. Some areas were ‘untidy’ but it looked like that was a result of ongoing development rather than neglect. Many interesting artefacts and displays alongside the aircraft.

There were a number of volunteers around talking to visitors and especially helping younger visitors to make the most of the exhibits, many of which allowed visitors to interact.

The Spitfire is in the process of being restored. I will need another visit to check progress.

Fantastic collection of both military and civil aircraft, laid out over a wide area.
The aircraft are the stars here, but the staff deserve equal mention. Knowledgeable, mostly ex military personnel, along with enthusiastic civilians, all with the passion these museums deserve.
If you're lucky to visit on a weekday outside school holidays, you have the place to wander at leisure and the staff to ask questions of, and just listen to their stories about the aircraft and their histories.
Can't name one staff member above any other as we were given excellent assistance throughout.
Thanks QAM!
NB: Although this review asks who we went with it does not cater for just adult family members.

I am a regular visitor to aircraft museums and airshows, yet I found plenty to enjoy here, including several aircraft I hadn't seen or heard about before. I was given a helpful introduction to the museum by one of the staff, who highlighted several aircraft of particular interest. I then spent a very enjoyable couple of hours viewing and reading about the exhibits.

Downsides? Some of the information boards had become faded in the sun, so it would be helpful to replace these. There was also a Fairey Gannett somewhat hidden away at the rear of the site, and I would really like to have seen this on full display.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed my visit and can highly recommend the museum.

Not the usual place for a 10th birthday interest however the Qld Air Museum didn't disappoint.
$40 entry saw our family of four enter and peruse the two hangars and grounds of air history.
While there were no exhibits to enter, the kids had a good time poking around the machines reading their histories.
The volunteers were approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. They were happy to share their knowledge and took an interest in the birtbday boy.
We made a pur hase in the gift shop on departure, very satisfied with our tour of the museum. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The best thing about museums like this are the passionate volunteers, and the Queensland Air Museum is a perfect example. We spent a couple of hours here, exploring the displays. The team were super friendly, even letting us know that umbrellas were available if it rained. Then we were given an impromptu tour inside one of the incredible planes that were being restored, complete with stories and technical explanations. The stories had a personal twist making them all the more interesting. Plenty of hands-on experiences for the kids too. Great value!

Queensland Air Museum hosted our small group of older Australians for an outing. The feedback from the group was resoundingly positive all enjoying the experience and the above and beyond service and expertise provided by the tour guides. A big thankyou to QLD Air Museum and Gary for being so helpful with organising and providing a great day.

My husband has always had a great interest in everything to do with aviation and when I discovered that he could actually get to sit in the cockpit of an F111during the Ultimate F111 Experience, I knew I had found a unique birthday present for him. We had a wonderful afternoon in the company of Air Commodore Peter Growder whose knowledge and experience of this aircraft was astonishing. Long after closing time, we were still having our questions answered with generosity and good humour. We didn't have time to see the rest of this gem of a museum but we are planning a return visit to see the 90 or so different aircraft in display. It is run entirely by enthusiastic and very knowledgeable volunteers who have a passion for preserving our aviation history. Thank you for a memorable experience.
