- Kimmy1 contributionAmazing timeWe had a fantastic time at Scenic world, we are from Sydney and it is really something that everyone should come and do! Different things you can do is great, it was very well staffed and operated. However a few little things nearly ruined our day - Appreciate we were there on a Saturday and it was busy, there were numerous European tourists that had no hesitation pushing and shoving to get onto the skyway and cable car. I think management could find a far better way to get a better queuing system happening. I literally had to hold my kids by the arms and even then one nearly got bowled over by some random lady thinking she could beat us onto the cable car to get a better view. Very difficult for families to stay together and people who do the right thing and wait in line get punished. Secondly, there is a very minimal percentage of people wearing masks. I’m quite sure the random European tourists came from a cruise ship and particularly waiting for the skyway there was absolutely no way to social distance from these people, especially with staff telling you to move up to get more people into the area immediately next to skyway entry. One of them wanted to stand between me and my husband and I had to literally push them away. If at all possible come to this amazing place early and on a less busy day if at all possible. Bring a mask and be prepared to fight for your life should there be any scary European tourists around. Even after all that it was a worthwhile visit.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 18 March 2023
- Sarah KHonolulu, Hawaii90 contributionsScenic World fits it wellTook a train as a day trip from Sydney. So glad we did. It was easy to navigate. The kids loved the Gruffalo walk and had so much fun. The trams and skyways were a fun and unique way to see beautiful land.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 March 2023
- Jenny P19 contributionsGREAT EXPERIENCEThe last time I visited the scenic railway I had 3 small children and boy oh boy has it changed. It is so different. To start with there are now 3 rides to go on the cable car the skyrail and the scenic rail. You have to buy an combined ticket. No single ticket rides anymore but in saying that it is unlimited amount of rides and you can stay all day if you want. There is a concession rate which works out to be $15 each ride . It was worth experiencing the differences that have happened. You now have a commentator who will give you the scenic talk (if you forgive the pun). They were all very good, young but professional and friendly. There is now a huge souvenir shop, a cafe on the 2nd floor and an eatery on the 3rd floor. Prices are comparable to any tourist attraction. There is a life for those of us with a mobility issue for two of the rides and the cafe n eatery but ifnyou want to go on the scenic rail there are steps. Now I did this very slowly and by myself but it was manageable just, but there is no provision for wheelchair or walkers to get down there , then when you get to the bottom of thos stairs, there are others stairs depending where you want to sit, if you want the front of the car then you have more stairs if you are happy at the back which I was then there is only 2 or 3 wide steps to manage. There are no seats on the cable car or skyrail so be prepared to stand for the journey which is no more than 10 mins up n back. It is a great experience . There are great views from the cafe and eatery which are worth a look and to take photos.Visited March 2023Travelled soloWritten 24 March 2023
- Al-ShumbaBedfordshire, United Kingdom495 contributionsA must visit when in Sydney! We visited this resort which has a cable car from the bus stop to the resort with spectacular views if the Katoomba Falls and valleys and mountains together with the 3 sisters rick formation. Once there you can travel on the steepest train (in the world) to the valley where there is a rain Forrest walk on raised platforms to the cable car back to the main area. There are restaurants and shops with spectacular views if the 3 sisters and the mountain ranges. Al's top tips Don't bother booking expensive trips from Sydney, just catch the train from Central to Katoomba. Outside the station is a Big Bus tour shop. Speak to Roland for the best trip advice. Depending on how much time you want to spend there. The big bus ticket included the cost of entry to scenic world so don't pay twice! The big bus hop on and hop off is ideal for exploring the area. There are plenty of hikes and the footpaths are also lit up at night. There are a selection of places to eat before catching the train back to Sydney. They run late into the night.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2023
- Laine M7 contributionsGreat day!I absolutely loved scenic world and it is a great option if you want to see some of the sights (three sisters) without any strenuous hikes etc. I did all 3 rides and it made the experience all the more fun! There are walks you can do from each of the locations and they vary time wise- different options for what you’d be looking for. I opted for the shorter 10/15 minute walks and still got to see some amazing views. I am a solo traveller and didn’t feel comfortable exploring without a guide etc so I felt that I really got to experience the Blue Mountains whilst feeling comfortable! Staff are super nice and helpful, especially at the check in counter! I would suggest to book in advance and make sure you’re there at the time you booked, as you can’t go in any earlier.Visited April 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 April 2023
- goblin54Plymouth, United Kingdom243 contributionsEasy alternative to hikingWe visited on Good Friday & expected long queues arriving at 11.15, but were pleasantly surprised. Apart from the 10-15 minute walk from the base of the railway to the cableway, we didn’t do any of the hikes, so completed the railway, cableway & skyway in 90 minutes. Once inside you can ride each of the 3 attractions multiple times if you want to. The railway is a very short ride, partly in a tunnel, so the views aren’t great, but the cableway and skyway both offer great views. You could get similar views for free if you are prepared to hike, but this is the easy way out and as such reasonable value even though we were only there about 2 to 2.5 hours.Visited April 2023Written 11 April 2023
- TriscinaGold Coast, Australia71 contributionsGreat day out for Everyone.Thankfully I booked tickets in advance as it was sold out on my day to walk ins. They were expecting 6000 people on the day which may have been because of the Easter Long weekend, but I would recommend booking tickets early as there can be. Lines for the Train, and Cable Car. They do move very quickly however but if you are the first in, the wait is very short. There are lots of trails you can move around through depending on abilities but access around is very easy. There is a cafe and restaurant but if you want to pack your own lunch, there is an outside area you can sit at to eat while you take in the views. I highly recommend!Visited April 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 April 2023
- Dimitris LSydney, Australia45,458 contributionsA great experienceWe visited Scenic World just for the experience and we were not disappointed. It offers short rides, of a few minutes each, on three different modes. One is the steepest railway anywhere in the world, the Scenic Railway. Another is the cable car, Scenic Cableway, and the third one is the Scenic Skyway car. All are really amazing experiences. They offer spectacular views that take your breath away. The experience includes nature walks around the National Park which are truly amazing. You discover new things as you walk through. There are also exhibits of what used to be a coal mine in the area. A real surprise! You can take as many rides as you like and you can stay the whole day if you want.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 June 2023
- 2CAtravelersBrattleboro, Vermont876 contributionsBeautiful SceneryOur friend in Sydney brought us here to show off the beautiful Blue Mountains and the Three Sisters Rocks. The scenery is excellent with such great views from the visitor center. We had lunch at the Cafe, which was quite good but a bit on the more expensive side. There is also a coffee bar. We did not have time to take some of the tours offered but would have loved to do so. It's well worth the trip from Sydney.Visited March 2023Written 10 June 2023
- Cute-FruitBrisbane, Australia145 contributionsWell worth the visitFirst time we had visited since 1999 so a vastly more modern experience than my previous memories. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The 3 different experiences were so much fun and made our day fun and interesting. They have excellent facilities including a free multi level car park which was a very positive surprise. We only got to have 1 trip on everything with the time we had so if you want more than that I suggest getting there before lunchtime. Defiantly made some delightful memories.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 June 2023

Arriving early in the morning to excellent weather on a busy day, just ahead of an increasing number of other tourists. Excellent informative staff highlighted this glorious attractions, whilst we enjoyed the Scenic Cable Car, Railway, Walkway to finish on the Cableway.

It rained and the cloud was low to start with but no bother.
The wonderful steep railway took us down to the lush forest for a walk along very solid board walks. The views and the proximity to nature are stunning.
The cable car return to base gives another perspective as does the high level cable way across the gorge. Over 200m up from the forest floor with excellent views of the mountains (albeit flat topped) and the never dry waterfall. The latter particularly good after recent rain.
The whole experience is expertly done. Pleasant informative staff and a decent cafe for drinks and snacks.
The restaurant looked to have happy customers.

The Buunyal tour with David was the highlight of our family's Blue Mountain visit. We used Opal card to take 2h train ride to Blue Mountain. It is much less crowded in the morning than afternoon. Out tour was at 1pm and lasts about 2-2.5h. David gave us a walk and talk tour, with the world steepest train, skyway, cable car rides. He also shared with us the culture, plants, animals, how people live in the country, etc. We gained a deeper understanding and respect of the GUNDUNGURRA people. David is incredibly knowledgeable, kind and interesting. My two boys (12 and 9) were both engaged through the whole tour and learned quite a few things. Feeling lucky that we were able to take this tour which just started this year in our first trip to Australia!

Without the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, these three rides could have been a better experience. This had an influence on my star rating. Arriving earlier didn't make any difference, nor did visiting on a weekday outside of school holidays. My advice is: go later in the afternoon after the multitude of tour buses have gone.
We enjoyed great views from the Skyway. We liked how it now travels right across to the Echo Point side of the Jamison Valley for the opportunity to get out and enjoy the vast view from a great nearby lookout.
When you alight from the Scenic Railway, there is a waterfall, boardwalks through lush rainforest, and information boards about the interesting history of coal mining. You actually walk past the entrance to an old coal mine on your way to the Scenic Cableway.
However, we weren't able to see the view at all while ascending in the Scenic Cableway because it was packed to capacity - so only those on the perimeter could see out.
The eateries were packed and noisy, so we opted for lunch at a peaceful outside cafe that sat on the edge of a cliff just up from Echo Point.
$50pp is the average cost of tickets, which covers all three rides; you can't opt to go on just one ride. Upon arrival, we noticed that our line (who were yet to purchase tickets) moved faster than the pre-paid ticket line.
I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I have great childhood memories of enjoying frequent family visits to Scenic World, so I remember a time when it wasn't noisy & packed, nor required a lot of waiting-around time when lining up for rides. Would I go again? Yes, but only if it was an hour or two before closing time.

Surge pricing which goes up based on the amount of people who visit on any given day - not cool. We were only interested in the train but had to pay the $59 per person for all 4 attractions which we didn’t get to enjoy anyway because despite being told they run every 10 minutes and that 90 minutes was enough to see all the attractions, the average wait for each attraction in each direction was about 20-30 minutes. So essentially we paid about $59 per minute of ride time (excluding the 2 hours worth of waiting) and missed out on of attractions because of the time. The Blue Mountains are gorgeous but my word they’re cashing in on the tourism here.

If visiting Blue mountains, don’t waste your money. You get all the views without entering Scenic World. The place was packed, long queues for the three rides and lots of customers who thought they had the right to jump ahead. Train was only thing notable. Not worth the money.

The scenic rides are a lot of fun. You could spend the whole day there. Allow yourself plenty of time due to the line ups for the rides. Amazing views

Let me preface this by saying the family came down with C-19 on this visit, but that is not Scenicworlds’ fault… neither is the heavy overcast which had set in all day!!
Now… aside from that - or maybe in spite of that - we had a ball!! Obviously the views from the cableways/tramways was limited, but everything else was great; I found my self enjoying the dinisaur walk more than perhaps a 64 y/o man should…
Food was pretty good, service was exceptional and prices were not too bad at all: we’ll be back!

I did the Beyond Skyway Experience where I stood on top of the Skyway cable car - words can not describe how incredible it was.
Ben was our guide and rooftop instructor and he was FABULOUS. He calmed my nerves, made sure I felt safe and took great photos of me on top of the cable car. It was a honour to be out on the Beyond Skyway deck with Ben, he was so knowledgeable and so experienced. I can’t speak highly enough of Ben and the efforts that he went to ensure that I had the BEST time on Beyond Skyway.
The staff at Scenic World made me feel like a rockstar for completing the Beyond Skyway. My family came to watch, including my sister who is in a wheelchair, and the staff involved them so enthusiastically and kindly. I only have the highest of compliments for everyone involved with my Beyond Skyway experience, including Bella and Rosey as well. From the moment I checked in for the experience the staff were excited, happy to answer any questions and were so incredibly kind.
The views of the Jamison Valley from on top of the cable car I will never forget. 360 degrees of the breathtaking Blue Mountains, with unencumbered views of the Three Sisters and Katoomba Falls. It was stunning.
Thank you all so very much at Beyond Skyway for an experience that I will NEVER forget!

Hi,
If I buy the early bird ticket (timed 8.45am) does that mean I must enter the exact time?

I’m not sure. I think you need to be close to the chosen time.
Are the skyway and railway in the same area and if so can i book them together for 2 parties of 15 per, party to exchange after each ride.

Yes, both in the same location and your ticket covers the train and the skyway, plus the cable car which is a ten minute from the train stop at the bottom of the mountains. They offer group rate tickets too.

Hi, apologies for not answering earlier.
I'm pretty sure that it's a case of once you've paid and entered you can continue riding all day long, not just one go per attraction.

As I understand from the website of ScenicWorld there is a Scenic Pass a $49.90
Is it possible to get this ticket at Skyway East Sation?
As I would like to do the following:
*Use Scenic Cableway from East station to Scenic World
*Walk the Scenic Walkway
*Ride Scenic Railway
*Use my return ticket of Scenic Cable to bring me back to East station
Would this make any sense?
Any ideas!!?

We had to book the tickets online and they are then emailed to you, therefore you can use any route you like to get there.
Hope this helps,

if you can afford the time do all day as the entry price includes all, must do the bottom walk this is the best for me. do the railway up and the cable car downwards i find the best way to experience or vice versa but you will enjoy it

It looks like they only accept bookings for a certain time ahead. They aren't letting bookings for the saver tickets in the second half of December.
Can you purchase tickets downstairs to go on the rail? Or you must get tickets from Information Office in Echo point?
