Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did a private instructional abseiling course, which was just amazing. The ASM office managed to accomodate our timing restrictions and went so far as to move staff around so that we could have Josiah for the whole weekend. Josiah was a brilliant instructor, breaking down complex tasks and concepts to make our learning fun and rewarding. He tailored our progress through the course to match our learning speed and styles. We learned so much more in two days than we had thought possible (even despite the inclement weather) and are looking forward to developing the skills we have been given and putting them into practice. Thanks so much Josiah and the ASM team.

I did the trad climbing course for climbers with some prior experience. Had a good time. Learned a lot. Got to know two new crags at MtVic Did our first leads on trad gear on the last day.

Our guide was Mike who was very observant and detail oriented. Over the three days I got a sense of his deep knowledge and enthusiasm for climbing safety systems. He spent the first day getting a read on our crack climbing skills and then worked with us to build a new skillset for leading trad. Like all good teachers he listened a lot and worked hard to figure out where the gaps in our knowledge were. He was always very patient with our questions and thoughts and he had good stories to tell. I would love to go climbing with him again.

My favourite parts of the trip were:
- 'dead roping' on trad gear, ie. mock leading on top-rope placing gear as you go.
- When Mike rapped back down with us after an ascent and inspected every gear placement we had made. This was gold.

If I had any advice to prepare for this course to get the most out of it I'd say:

1. Spend a few months focussing on crack climbing in hand jams and off-widths.
2. Have a go at placing a bunch of gear on top rope at the sport crag (even if its just affordable nuts or hexes) .
3. Bring a stack of questions and mysteries to discuss.
4. Emotionally prepare to be humbled by "vintage" 1960's route grading.

No need to buy gear before the course. The course is a great way to get your hands on different types of trad gear to get a feel for what you like.

My friend and I signed up for the Abseiling 4 - Abseiling Leader's Course that took place over four days. Our goal was to learn and get a beginning understanding how to safely Abseil ,set up and rig lines ,plus rescue and Canyoning recreationally and lead family and friends safely through these adventures
We were lucky enough to be instructed by Brian absolute legend and fantastic teacher, who took the time to go over and over the training we needed.
2 days training on a cliff and 2 day running a canyon . If you want to feel alive sign up thanks ASM thank Brian .

This is my second time within a few months doing a course with ASM. They have been a great company to work with and I’ve been so lucky to have Brian each time as our amazing guide.

I signed up for the Abseil 3 course - a 2 day abseiling course focused on teaching participants how to rig an abseil safely and conduct rescues of others experiencing difficulties.

I had such an awesome time that I decided to extend my session to the Abseil 4 course, which included an additional 2 days of canyoning and running through a canyon using these skills we had learnt over the past 2 days.
This course was so much fun and I now feel much more confident to go canyoning and abseiling recreationally.

I booked a day of rock climbing with a personal guide and had the most amazing experience, climbing Sweet Dreams. Lauren made a real effort to find me an available guide on short notice, and at a reasonable price compared to other companies. The day turned out just perfect, with the calm, competent and very friendly guide, Mika, giving me enough (but not too much) tips and reassurance to complete this amazing climb, feeling both safe, capable and thrillingly overwhelmed at the same time. I even did the last difficult pitch in one go, despite having doubts about my own climbing abilities doing a grade 17. The best confidence boost ever standing on the top! The timing was great as well, on a sunny winters day in the middle of the week. No other climbers on the route, dry conditions and good temperatures. Very grateful to Mika, giving me enough time to climb in my own tempo and enjoy the amazing views and amphitheater exposure along the way. No wonder they call this a classic Blue Mountains climb, perfect for first timers on a multi pitch climb. I definitely recommend it if you have some climbing experience and want to try out new heights. We even had time for some more climbing in the afternoon sun after finishing Sweet Dreams in no rush at all. For me, this was the experience of a lifetime!
