Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We recently had an amazing experience in Queenstown with RoamWild, participating in 3 of their tours - Lost Mines and Ancient Pines, Lake Margaret, and Mt Owen 4x4. In all cases, we were, in part or totally, taken behind locked gates and immersed in the rugged history, geography and situation of Queenstown by excellent local guides. So much of the story of Queenstown is in the history and this is not easily easily accessed without some local help. RoamWild delivered a truly enjoyable and informative full day, which can, of course, be spread over more than 1 day.

Really enjoyed our day out with Anthony exploring Queenstown and environs. Great mix of historic information (including a visit to an old mine), rainforest experience complete with ancient Huon and King Billy pines as well as a bonus trip to the top of the mountain where the mountain bike trails start. We’ll worth doing.

Sunset on Mt Owen, Corey was a great guide, lots of info on the area including a tour of the Paragon Theatre currently being lovingly brought back to life by his employers.
Obviously the weather isn't always kind to those wanting a sunset, we had a perfect night after days of rain and witnessed the most amazing colours up there-the distances you can see from that vantage point alone is worth the trip.

A very special trip for us, to areas and places now very hard to get to. A lot of history, some very personal. Anthony and Joy at Roam Wild did a fantastic job, and accommodated some schedule shuffling at the last minute, including changing our dinner reservations and opening the Paragon for us. Roam have access to and know about places you could never find on your own - old mines (real ones, not modern re-creations) and the sites of the Franklin Blockade in 1983 - things I have not seen in 39 years. An unexpected but beautiful part of the trip was seeing a brilliant sunset from Mt McCall - in the middle of nowhere but able to see the sun light up the peaks before it disappeared beyond Macquarie Harbour in the west. And then a very slow drive back to avoid the wildlife that was out in force.

Chris is an incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to tour guide. We went on the lost mines ancient pines tour on a spur of moment decision and got two seats.
We found gold while panning and very much enjoyed the the underground mine. Chris worked as a geologist and explained things incredibly well.
Thank you so much, we will be back for this one again.

A must do tour when you come to Queenstown - Piners and Miners tour with a very knowledgeable guide Anthony, capably backed up by driver Charlie was an absolute delight. Anthony has a great mixture of knowledge and humour and the tour in the forest was a very special experience.#

Based on the recommendation of our next door neighbour, we asked Roam Wild to tailor a comprehensive tour of the Strahan/Queenstown area for 2 of us.
We were picked up at Lettes Bay @ 0900 & arrived back at 1800 after Anthony combined elements of Roam Wild's tour options.
If you are heading to the West Coast, would highly recommend Roam Wild - very friendly and knowledgeable guide.

After the cancellation of the Unconformity Festival, we decided at short notice to see if we could get on a Roamwild tour to Lake Margaret. We had always wanted to go there, but it isn't easy to get an opportunity. Anthony was only too helpful in organising a tour for the next morning, just for the two of us. Excellent tour. Anthony, a Queenstown local, is very knowledgeable and obliging. All round, a real highlight. We know the West Coast pretty well, and this was up there with our favourite experiences there (like kayaking on the Pieman at dawn).

Thank you for coming our way. We are pleased that you enjoyed yourselves. The Lake Margaret site is most certainly a gem and we are so blessed to still have this operating for all to experience. Thanks from the team at RoamWild Tasmania and The Paragon Theatre for the kind note here.
