We sighted Horsetail Falls a short distance past the Queenstown - Gormanston boundary marker. Good cascade of water over the cliff face. We decided not to venture closer as it had begun to rain.

Nice walk along the cliff-face boardwalk to reach the lookout. This is the highlight because the falls are pretty disappointing. Very little water flowing.

Just outside of Queenstown, easy to park off the side of the highway and then a relatively easy incline up the walkway to the falls lookout. Great views back over Queenstown and well constructed path.

Recently constructed, this walkway is easy to navigate from the car park.
Driving from Queenstown to Gormanston, the walkway is visible as it traverses the hillside.
The walk is short and has a few stairs.
The viewing platform at the end allows a good view of Horsetail Falls, when there is Water!

Although this short walk had a great view over Queenstown, there were other better walks to be had. The falls had little water flowing down them.

Was a nice unexpected surprise to come across these falls as we drove out of Queenstown. Well maintained steps in place to make the walk much easier getting to the top.
Easy to pull in and park from the main Rd.
You only need around half an hour to walk up, take in the views and walk back to your car

Good parking accesses this long structured walk. A metal gantry wraps around the mountain, to gain access to this view.

The incline will take a bit of effort, but if there has been rain, the falls will be worth the effort

I was not planning to walk to the Falls, but the walkway caught my eye as I was driving past and I just had to stop. The engineers have done a fantastic job attaching the walkway to the side of the hill. A strenuous walk but worth it for the spectacular views. The walkway is very exposed, so be prepared for cold, wet and windy weather. The Falls themselves were not very impressive from the walkway, but it was the experience that I enjoyed.

After the “Iron Blow” we went across to Horsetails Falls lookout. Both spots were stark, windy, moon-like landscapes. So windy .....

Stopped off here to do walk on a cold, windy and rainy day. You need a little bit of fitness to be able to do this walk as there are many steps up to view falls. The day was terrible when we did it and we finally got up to the top and I must say that the view up top is not much better than bottom or half way up so really not necessary to go all the way. It would have been a nicer walk if weather had of been nice. Glad we did it as it was definitely a challenge to get up to top.
