the resort is beautiful. the staff are amazing but when you're paying $500 a night you do not want to share it with local back Packers and locals . They can pay $40 and use the resort which they get back if they spend it at the bar. They come in droves and on the weekend is it impossible to get a chair anywhere near the pool Some appear to be drunk before they get here or high and they are loud and have no respect for the paying guests.
I’ve spoken to many other guests and they all feel the same. It is a shame as we will not return here and I doubt they will either as it is ruined by these day guests. they think it’s hilarious they pay $34 a day at the backpackers but spent 12 hours here a day. very disappointing ;(

Please be aware of the carparking area, there are 2 carparks run by two separate company's one being Whitsunday Council, the other is Coral Sea Marina, there is no warning to say that they are different they have the same payment portals I paid in the closest one to my car but this is the wrong one there is no way of knowing this!
This is a major scam, entrapment call it what you like but be aware.
I was fined 3 times over 3 days although I had paid for 5 days to the Whitsunday Council. I contested and provided the proof but they refuse to accept my position.
I believe the Courier Mail took this up back in February for another unhappy punter.
Very very annoyed!

Hi Shane
Thank you for the feedback regarding your recent parking fine. Just to clarify, the Coral Sea Marina car park is clearly signposted on the way in and throughout the site. We also have signage on the two footpaths leading from the marina car park into the Whitsunday Regional Council car park advising that you are leaving the Coral Sea Marina car park and entering a car park managed by Whitsunday Regional Council (WRC).
Our marina parking machines are labelled with maps which indicate where you can park in the marina owned car park when paying at that machine. There is also a map next to the WRC parking machine (in EasyPark branding) which shows the area of their car park and on the EasyPark app it clearly identifies the two different car parks as different payment zones.
The marina car park and parking machines are clearly signposted, however if you park in the marina car park and pay in the Whitsunday Regional Council car park, then your ticket is not valid.

we came for a meal but it was too crowded and we were unable to get anything. we went for a walk around and it is a beautiful part of Queensland. the only negative is the parking. trying to get the meters to work is a joke and we spent around 20minutes trying to pay for parking as one didnt work and the other required an app which failed to load.

Hi there,
Thank you for your review and also for the feedback regarding your experience visiting the marina.
We are so sorry you were unable to enjoy a meal at one of the great cafes/restaurants here. They are incredibly popular, so they do recommend trying to book in advance if possible. We do hope to welcome you again soon to be able to enjoy the marina precinct and what is on offer.
We also thank you for your feedback regarding your experience with the parking machine/ app. Similar to the majority of car parks in the region, the marina car park is managed by the EasyPark app and we do have multiple payment machines throughout the car park areas should a guest prefer to pay by card/cash, however we do appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Thank you again!

Very disappointed with breakfast today. The menu has gone from a full Buffett for $24 to a continental Buffett or $29. Pretty rich , much better value elsewhere with the same view. We are locals, so doubtful to return.

Being 2 passengers out of 40 on a coach tour, we booked in. They double booked us into a room that was already occupied. Another hotel that only accepts credit card for drinks at the restaurant. The staff were very polite and helpful. The passengers were all disgruntled about not being able to pay cash for their drinks. (legal tender). Its not fair that these places will not accept hard earned cash. A lot of the passengers did not buy drinks because of the not cash pig headed rule. We would not stay here again because we can not use cash.

I went for a walk around Airlie and stumbled over the beautiful Coral Sea Marina. I ended up going back another two times during my visit. There is a variety of upscale restaurants, cafes and tour desks for water activities departing from the marina. It’s a picturesque ten minute from town if you don’t have transport.

Love the vibe. Haven't stayed or eaten here yet. But the staff are fantastic. Great. Friendly and informative. Drinks well priced and the location perfect for access to Airlie Beach and Cannonvale.

Thanks for the great review and pleased you enjoyed the atmosphere down at Abell Point Marina. We do appreciate your feedback and note the cost of parking at the marina is the same as all council parking throughout Airlie Beach as we try to be comparable. As I am sure you can understand there are considerable costs involved with maintaining a safe and convenient facility in a private marina. Many of our dining establishments provide validated parking when you present your parking ticket when dining with them, we hope this encourages people to come and enjoy the marina at any time. Hopefully you will visit again in the future.

Hi! There are 3 of us who would like to go scuba diving and/or snorkeling on the Great Barrier reef. We will be visiting in the middle of January 2018. Is this area a good place to stay and are there diving companies there that we can contact? Thanks. Anne

Yes!
Speak to John who runs the Colonial Motor Inn there - he has fantastic local knowledge & it is a great place to stay whilst only 4 minutes from the marina. He often helps people just like yourselves...
