Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Found a great retro coffee van at Shute Harbour. It does great coffees and has cold drinks as well as snacks and breakfast favourites like toasties and rolls. Great way to grab something prior to any island transfer from Shute Harbour

Not worth the drive. Seating is old and rusted, car park is in disrepair. Better views from our balcony in Airlie Beach. They call this a lookout but expect you to pay? PlayStation signs everywhere but we couldn’t figure out if people are really expected to pay for a view overlooking boat building below. Such a disappointment.

This Harbour has recently been reconstructed after Cyclone Debbie had hit. Beside the terminal there is a food van, a few chairs with umbrellas so you can have a snack. We walked up to the lookout to soak in the beautiful blue, aqua and greens. A gorgeous little spot which won't take up much of your time.

Save yourself a trip there. Look at the pics that people have uploaded of it and you’ve saved yourself some time.
We thought we would have lunch there at a local cafe. You can’t even buy a loaf of bread or milk let alone a burger.
It’s residential area with a nice lookout. But that’s it.
There’s a lot of works and development happening which may change in future but right now it’s not worth it.

Beautiful spot to take a picture of the different colours in the water, however, it was difficult to get a scenic photo as it was blocked by construction. No doubt it will be great when it’s finished.

Coral Beach Walking Track, Beautiful little morning hike over in Shute Harbour just outside of Airlie Beach Township 😀
Only a grade 2 trail and very reasonably walk (approx 4kms return), it goes through forest then to a beautiful coral beach, hence the name and then back into forest before taking you to a breathtaking little wooden lookout platform overlooking Shute Harbour and the surrounding islands 🌴
Add this one to your list if you visit and are looking for a nice easy hike

From the lookout, the water is an amazingly beautiful shade of blue. The contrast between, sky, forest lined hills and the sea is lovely. Shute harbour itself is rather quiet now the main port is at Airlie. There is still a ferry there.

I last visited Shute Harbour many years ago. It has not changed a lot but it is improving with work going ahead at present. It is very low key and is still worth a visit.

I’m coming up there in July by car to go sailing. I need to join the sail boat I’ll be on at Hamilton Island. I believe there is a ferry service I can catch to take me from Airlie Beach to Hamilton. Can someone tell me if there is a secure parking area near the ferry terminal where I can leave my car for a week?
Thanks in advance

Hi Both Airlie Beach (I image this is where you will leave from) and Shute Harbour (Undercover parking) have secure parking, just don't know cost. Phone to see where your connection leaves from as our trip to Hamilton was from Airlie Beach and was for just a day visit, parking was $4 per hour
Cheers

Just wondering what else you can do on foot around Airlie Beach. We are doing an ocean rafting experience for four hours until about 12.30 and would like something else to do before boarding the cruise ship.

There is not a whole lot to do actually. Have a coffee or go for a walk on the beach board walk which follows the beach line. There are lots of little Cafes on the walk. Enjoy😀
