Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’ve just come back from an amazing three days on Solway Lass! We were with a lovely group of people, and Karl and his crew were excellent. Special shout-out to Josh - the food was amazing!! We were so well fed. The sights and beaches were beautiful - completely unforgettable. We’d definitely recommend this boat for anyone wanting a social yet chilled trip. Thank you!!

Me and my boyfriend just got back from a 3 day trip with solway lass. We had an amazing experience. We did Whitsundays and snorkelling, rope swing and paddle boards. Food was delicious and we never felt hungry.

Had an amazing time on Solway Lass, would definitely recommend it! The team were awesome! Had such a good laugh it was a good mixture between having drinks and a laugh and having some down time while sailing round! We did loads of snorkels went to a few islands even one with an abandoned resort! The food was amazing and there was plenty of space! Big cabins for sleeping in and the boat wasn’t rocky at all! Thank you again, (Jacob, Zac, Uggie, Tess and Dan)

After spending 3 days on the Solway Lass an honest review was necessary!
In terms of food, Tess was brilliant! The breakfasts were great, the snacks throughout the day were perfect and the lunch and dinners were delicious! She also really made sure to accommodate everyone’s dietary requirements and allergies. Unfortunately this is where the good review ends.
The boat - although I can appreciate this remarkable boat, I’m not sure I could stay on it a day longer. I appreciate the history and the age but with this brings a lot of problems. The boat is incredibly slow, so what was achieved in 3 days could have been done in 2. Most of our time was spent on the boat with little space for all 32 of us on board to relax on the deck.
A lot of the areas around the boat inside were messy, cluttered, and faulty. There were showers not working and flooded and leaks that made the whole downstairs smell unpleasant. The boat felt quite dirty, when we stripped the beds before we left we were appalled to see the state of the mattresses.
The crew - although some of the crew were great there were members who treated us all like school children, we were constantly patronised from the get go. Everything we asked or questioned seemed like a huge task.
The activities - activities advertised for this boat included snorkelling and paddle boarding. The snorkelling equipment was dirty and most of it broken! The stinger suits were in terrible condition, many were ripped and smelt horrendous. They were clearly very old and not washed regularly. The paddle boards never touched the water which was a huge shame as that was part of the reason we booked this tour! I also wouldn’t advertise this tour as a ‘sailing adventure’ as the sails never appeared. They did however get the rope swing out which was fun.
And lastly the worst of all BED BUGS! We went on this tour with a large group of friends, after the tour we all noticed we were itching all over and were covered in little red bites, we spoke to others that also were on this tour who experienced the same. We then came to the conclusion that the bites we had were notorious of bed bugs, to which I can say I am not surprised!
It would be easy to be misled that the beauty of the Whitsundays and in our case the amazing group of people on our boat was a result of Solway Lass. We were all very confident that we would have experienced this regardless of what boat we were on and we do wonder if this is why the Solway Lass has some many great reviews.

I had the experience of a lifetime sailing the whitesundays. We snorkled a lot and went to the most beautiful beaches. The cabins are small but the beds are really comfy.
But what made the experience unique was the crew. Big thank you to Gareth, Dan, Jacob and Beth. Captain Dan is really passionate about his boat and you can learn a lot about the boats history. Beth made sure that we had always healthy and delicious Food options. Her curry is to die for. And Jacob is a born entertainer, we had a lot of fun with hin and he Tried to engage everyone in the boats activities, which brought the group closer together.
Would love to sail with you again!

Absolutely brilliant experience and great craic. Beautiful and historic old vessel crewed by some of the soundest people you’ll meet anywhere. Míle buíochas to Dan, Pickles, Gaz, Jacob, Nika, Britney and Tess for making it such a great 3 days. Would recommend and go back and do it again in a heartbeat. Don’t bring any poxy bananas on board either.

Unbelievable 3 days on the boat. Crew were extremely accommodating and were relaxed. We snorkelled, had trips to private beaches, tours of several islands.
Couldn’t of asked for more!

Did they set the sails and if so for how long over the 2 or 3 day trip?

We got all the sails for a whole day, conditions were perfect. Look on the website around 8-12th Sept 2018. It’s all on video was incredible. We did 6 nights being 2 three day trips both different. We went further south than they had been for years on the second trip. You can’t put sail up without right conditions and they try to whenever they can as they live the experience themselves

Considering booking a voyage in May. Will the air and water temps be comfortable that time of year? We like to snorkel and hike.
