About
Established in 2001, Artlandish is a family owned business showcasing hundreds of artworks from leading & emerging artists representing all major Aboriginal Art regions of Australia including a huge range of local ochre artworks unique to the Kimberley. Many local artists paint in house & most days you will find artists visiting or painting at the gallery. We work directly with many artists locally & source art from other regions via art centres & ethical, well know suppliers. Artists we deal directly with are always paid up front on completion of artworks. They are not required to wait until the art has sold for payment. In the last 16 years we've paid out over 2 million dollars to artists that has been injected directly into local Indigenous communities. We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality authentic artworks, exceptional customer service and true value for money. Please drop in & say hi if you're in Kununurra or visit us online anytime.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stumbled across the art gallery as we were walking around Kununurra. Very well laid out and well presented works of aboriginal art. there were works of art to suit most budgets, various styles, various sizes. Very well done.

Exciting art in a wide range of styles from traditional to modern. The only problem was wondering which one to buy from so many great artists. Friendly but not pushy service and free postage to home at the time you request. A great service for travelers.

There was one or two pieces I thought exceptional but nothing really grabbed us to purchase anything. It is only a small gallery but was taken with the intricate works on the Boab fruit nuts. They were so expensive averaging $45 each and some even $60… To make a nice creative centre piece you’d need about 6 or so. Guess I didn’t love them enough to warrant that sort of money. Each to their own

What an amazing gallery. We were greeted very warmly by the gentlemen at the front desk. We enjoyed looking at the art and bought 4 beautifully carved Boab nuts. We would definitely recommend having a look here.

Thank you Beverley for the kind words and we hope you or the people you gave the Boab nuts to really like them. They are incredibly difficult to carve without cracking so the work that goes into them and the skills required are amazing. Thanks again, Scott

This is one place to go to view fine Indigenous art that is well presented. Traditional and modern pieces with staff that are very passionate about what they show. Highly recommend a visit here.

I wonder how much engagement, interaction, fostering and empowering of Indigenous artists is done after a flat rate is giving for the pieces. Always many thoughts and questions about galleries that are not run by/most profits don't go to the communities they supposedly represent, and are white people still profiting off Bla(c)k culture while allowing injustices?... Information about this wasn't super forthcoming so still not sure.

This place was large, and it was pleasant to see the own the works they sell.

The are not sold on commissions so the local artist had been paid, which is good news,

Helpful staff,

I ordered online based on previous reviews and research. Their online website is very thorough and explicit. I’ve been wanting to purchase aborigines artwork since my last trip to Australia which is fascinating. I figured I would order two small pieces and give it a go. The ordering process is quick and easy and the paintings left the following day to my surprise. Now this is the part that got a bit tense. Although they immediately sent me a receipt for the order I wish now they would have also sent me a tracking number as this was shipped via Australia Post. Just to ease my mind. Because for whatever reason the package took a very long time to arrive, to the point that I had thought that I had lost my investment, not so much the money but the fact that I was not going to receive the paintings. My communication with the gallery owners was always answered in a proper manner so no complaints there. I guess just the not knowing was bothersome. The paintings was properly package and certificates of authenticity were included with the bio of each artist. Like that touch very much. Up to that point everything was five stars until I noticed that one of the painting appeared to have been mounted previously around a frame since there were imprints on the linen (these paintings were acrylic on linen) and staple marks. I should have been told this but wasn’t. I will say that when I took the painting to have mounted it all worked out fine no problems at all, still I felt a bit uncomfortable about this. Would I buy again? The answer is probably so, now I know just to ask a few more questions. I felt the price was fair and the artist were good at their work.

Hi Art P, Thank you very much for your detailed review and I'm so glad you are happy with your artworks. Australia Post usually do a very good job but every now and then they can be a little slow. I'm glad it was sorted out. Re the staple marks, many artworks are also displayed in the gallery so there is no way to eliminate them unless they are cut out but that may not leave enough room to stretch the artwork and as you saw, the way Aboriginal Art is stretched on a board for display means that those staple marks are reused or they always end up folded behind the board and not visible Thank you again for your review and thank you for your patronage and support of these magnificent artists. Regards, Scott Linklater
