Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Never got in and man was still shouting when we got in our car. Have not carried cash for 2 years went into museum and man said you would think people would consider a small museum. Then he said we could do a cash transfer before we were admitted. We were considering when he started to get irritated shouting it’s only$4 . I didn’t appreciate being spoken to like that and we left with him yelling after us.

Wow, what an exaggeration. I took a look at the diary after seeing this. Some people will do all they can to avoid paying $2 and here were two like that, for what I believe is the best value in the Kimberley and they never like being told, as they fly past the donation box as though it is invisible. As far as I am concerned, read the other reviews and you will find the truth.

We stopped in here just as a time waster and we did not waste our time! Andrew has an absolute wealth of knowledge and and extreme passion for the region. There is everything from ballot boxes to croc skulls. Absolute must do for a chat and learn more about the region. Bring a few bucks as a donation 😉

Very friendly staff oversee an eclectic mix of artefacts of local history. Very cheap entry just difficult to get an overall feel for the white history of the area and minimal mention of Indigenous local history.

The Kununurra Museum date-sorted slide shows that play on multiple screens at the museum (+2,900 images online) thoroughly document both 'white' and Indigenous history. We have a great deal of thoroughly documented Indigenous local history, but of course you can not see all we have in a short visit. Pity about the 3 star rating but never mind and thanks for the review.

Nice little museum, if you have an hour or two to fill then worth a visit. Good display about the area and the war. When there they have a display about when the Queen visited Kununurra, very interesting.

We spent an hour or so visiting this museum. There are a range of exhibits including artifacts, photographs and geological specimens. The caretaker/ guide/ curator is very friendly and happy to share his knowledge of the collection and of local history. Entry is by donation.

We were fortunate that Historical Society president Andrew Barker was on duty —we spent over an hour hearing about the history, geography and geology of the region. Definitely worth a visit!

Andrew and the team pack a lot of exhibits and history into the museum and if your interested to know why Kununurra was founded in in 1961 and the history of the Order River scheme then it's definitely worth a visit. It's open each afternoon.

Dear Aligattor of the Top End,
Good to see some of our 'locals' (neighbours!) visiting. A few days ago (March 2017) another 'local' lady who lives in Katherine (for many years past) brought in her <10 year old Kununurra-based Grandsons - they all loved it! Thanks for the nice review, much appreciated.

I took the opportunity to pop in and look at this museum run by the local historical society. There is plenty of local information including that regarding the development of the Diversion Dam, the Queen's earlier visits and development of Kununurra in earlier times. All run by the historical society.

Thanks Sean - The review sounds positive so it is a pity your rating was not a bit higher! Glad though that you did enjoy the Kununurra Museum.

Helps to understand what happened with the damming of the Ord and how the town was set up. Some people came in and asked to see the slides they had as they had lived there in the 70,s and wanted to see if they were in any of them. The chap in charge bought out a big viewer and slide case and it was no trouble at all to him and they really enjoyed seeing them.
