About
LAKE ARGYLE CRUISES is the original tour company on Lake Argyle. We offer a range of scenic cruises catering for individual travellers as well as tour groups. Our fleet of purpose built vessels offer comfortable seating and unobstructed views that leave many customers exclaiming words such as “amazing”, “breathtaking”, and “unbelievable”. Lake Argyle is Australia’s largest expanse of fresh water. It boasts over 26 species of native fish and supports a commercial fishery as well as the newly established Aquaculture industry. Latest research estimates up to 25,000 Johnstone River Fresh Water crocodiles inhabit Lake Argyle, Rock Wallabies thrive in rocky crevices close to the water’s edge, Eros (Wallaroos) on the islands have adapted to feed on the lakes aquatic plants. We specialise in observing wildlife, but due to the nature of wild animals it cannot be guaranteed you will see all that is described in this brochure. At Lake Argyle village above the Main Dam you will find motel style cabins, shop, bar, restaurant and a caravan park. Drop in and try the local catch, “Silver Cobbler” delivered fresh daily. Nearby is the Historical Durack Family Homestead Museum. The inland sea was created in 1971, by damming the mighty Ord River, forming a storage reservoir to supply one of the country’s largest and most ambitious irrigation schemes. What was once “Argyle Downs”, a million acre cattle station, is now an immense body of water amid a largely untamed and rugged wilderness in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia. Aptly named “Lake Argyle”, this majestic waterway can at times encompass and area of more than 2000 km2, a volume of water equivalent to 54 Sydney harbours. With its ever changing moods and landscapes it has developed into a unique eco-system, home to an amazing array of wildlife. There is no better was to capture all of this outstanding beauty than to take a cruise with Lake Argyle Cruises. We offer a selection of tours catering for the individual traveller as well as large tour groups. Specialised charters such as bird watching, bush walking and exploration can be arranged with prior notice.

We are repeat customers of the Lake Argyle sunset cruise as we live to showcase the beautiful Kimberley to friends and family who visit.
Greg and his fantastic team are so knowledgeable and fun - you are assured a wonderful experience in one of the most spectacular and under-rated parts of Australia I've ever been.

Lake Argyle is one of the most beautiful places in the world, in my opinion. I have been on two cruises with Lake Argyle Cruises and now hired the BBQ boat. Each time I have been blown away by the professionalism, friendliness, and knowledge that the Lake Argyle Cruises team possess. Could not recommend them more highly. If you are coming to the East Kimberley, do yourself a favour and spend a few days at Lake Argyle and book a couple of cruises with Lake Argyle Cruises.

I did the sunset cruise and had the most amazing experience! The team had a lot of knowledge on the lake and its inhabitants and were so welcoming and friendly. First met Bruce in the office who later drove us to the boat and Argie made sure to introduce himself too. Our Skipper/Guide was Claire and she was beyond brilliant. A wealth of knowledge and more than happy to answer questions or make you more comfortable however she could. It was off season to see the croc sunbathing on the shores but we did get the pleasure of seeing some baby croc fresh from hatching which was cuter than you’d expect. Finished off with a sunset swim and a beer - what more could you want ! Will hopefully get back to do it again sometime. Thanks to all at Lake Argyle Cruises.

My son and I did the sunset cruise last week. We did it a couple of years ago and had such fun we decided to do it again. Bruce drove us from Kununurra to the Lake sharing information along the way. We then boarded the boat with Greg for our cruise. It is so much fun! Greg has a wealth of knowledge of the lake and the area. Highly recommend doing the sunset cruise when you visit Kununurra and Lake Argyle. The champagne and nibbles are always lovely.

We had a great time paddle boarding in the morning and then BBQ pontoon for the afternoon.
It’s November so the lake was empty (as far as we knew!) so very peaceful.
Our guide lady was great fun and knowledgeable.

My only mini critique would be that the printed map given to us should use a google-map image rather than what we assume is a maritime one, as it was tricky to follow with scales being different. Google map at least looks like what can be seen visually.

Very good all round though!

What a delightful experience, from our bus pick up to our return from a beautiful afternoon. The time passed quickly with so much to see, hear about and experience. We were so thrilled to see the Short Eared rock wallabies! And very lucky to witness a female Freshwater crocodile attending to her nest. Thanks very much to knowledgeable friendly Greg, skipper and fabulous tour guide Claire, and smiling bus driver Bruce for a truly memorable few hours on Lake Argyle.

This trip was awesome. Malcolm and Chris were excellent hosts and took such good care of us. It was a great mix of education, fun and sightseeing. The swim at the end was outstanding - such a great place to spend an evening. The drinks and nibbles were also great. Would recommend to anyone!

We had an excellent boat trip with Chris, Malcom and Billy, who made this experience unique! They do a great job, Chris knows so much about the region and they really seem to like what they’re doing!!
Thanks for everything!

Greg, was going through the motions and displayed zero enthusiasm for the cruise. He has great knowledge and shared it with the absolute wrong attitude today. He was tight with the drinks and the snacks were also rubbish. Go with the other company (we did yesterday).

This was one of the best value for money cruises I have been on. The crew were very good, and gave us the history of the area. This cruise was very good value for money, with a couple of beer and nibbles on the way. Fish, crocodiles and a couple of swims. Highly recommended.

Wow what an amazing review, thank you ! We are glad you enjoyed the cruise, we think there is no better way to end the day then floating around the lake at sunset with drinks and nibbles ! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in the region. From the team at Lake Argyle Cruises.
