Beautiful island and it is doggy friendly

It's a quick 10 min boat ride from S Feliciano. Dogs are allowed on a lead and need to wear a muzzle. There is only one restaurant on the island and a couple of beaches. The boat... read more

It's a quick 10 min boat ride from S Feliciano. Dogs are allowed on a lead and need to wear a muzzle. There is only one restaurant on the island and a couple of beaches. The boat ride costs €6 and our dogs came for free. We think the nice girl at the office was very kind and did not... More

The boat trip over from San Feliciano sets the day for a family outing, the children can explore the island with little supervision and run around freely. We have been many times over the years, sometimes taking a picnic lunch, sometimes eating at the seasonal restaurant near the landing (better to make reservations as it's not too large and has great food). Take... More

The lake has 3 islands - two that you can visit by ferry. Polvese Island is the closest to the villa - you can see it from the villa, and take the 20 minute ferry ride from San Felicano. It is a small island and you can walk round it and visit its little beach. There are two excellent restaurants... More

Isola Polvese is a delightful boat ride from San Feliciano, and once you arrive you have the freedom to walk all over the island through avenues of oleanders, olive groves and forest. There are opportunities to swim, places to picnic or purchase lunch (both casual and dining). There are several points of historic interest, some nature points to observe and... More

I spent three perfect days on the tranquil Isola Polvese - away from cars and noise. The Fattoria Il Poggio was a lovely surprise - hostel prices with good, clean, ensuite accommodation. Every evening was perfect - enjoying the delicious, home-cooked food on the verandah over-looking Lago Trasimeno; each evening watching a beautiful sunset over the lake. I walked all... More

My husband and I visited this island last Sunday and found it a really delightful place. There is plenty to do to enjoy a full day out, and the place is very much geared towards families, with ample space and nets for football and volleyball, piers for swimming off, tables and benches for picnics and plentiful walking and cycling tracks.... I went with a group of 32 kids from 8th grade in Rome International School. We spent three days canoeing, doing archery and many workshops, including and orienteering activity. We stayed in La Fattoria il Poggio and ate very well. The main attractions of the Island are the Castle ( in reality a fortress, la chesa di San Giuliano and Monasterio... More
