Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Climbing to the top of Mount Coolum has been on our to-do list for years. It finally came to fruition after moving down the road. We've walked to the top twice and the views never get old or disappoint, A must see if you are in the area and have an hour or two to make the climb.
We are relatively fit and able to make it to the top and back in around 60 minutes.
Highly recommended

OK this is a short climb and you can go up and down within an hour with fantastic views in the middle and at the top. I live at the bottom of the mountain and drive to other places as it is ridiculously busy. You have to stop all the time to let the trainers through who jog up and down the mountain several times as exercise. Then you get stuck behind tourists who are not really fit enough to climb up. So, bring your patience and do it once to tick off your bucket list but you probably won't do it again if you're anything like me.

Excellent for active and fit walkers. This is a steep climb with sections crafted by rocks to form steps to assist the climb. Certainly need a level of fitness.

It is NOT a leisurely stroll. We had teenagers which was fine, but children under 10–12 may struggle or find the climb intimidating. Some adults may struggle unless they keep themselves fit and active.

The view from the top is worth the effort. Magnificent views of the coastline and surrounding countryside. And you can enjoy it all the more given the workout.

Steep walk, path is in excellent condition and is almost completely stone steps so probably tricky in the wet weather. Very hot up the top with no shade. Good views. Took us about an hour return. Lots of people running up/down so had to get out of the way a lot, I think it would be annoying to walk it on a very busy day.

Three of us walked up and down in an hour (44 yo, 9yo, 7yo) from the beach side car park. We are active but not fitness junkies. It's steep but the path is well marked and very stable. There's parking at the bottom - but could benefit from more. Ideally, the path could benefit from more space on the side to allow for folks to catch their breath and/or take photos.

At the top you mainly have views to the East and South to Mooloolaba (and overlooking the airport). There's a small area with views to the Hinterland in the West. On the way up, there are some views to the North.

I feel like a few more sign posts, would help people get the most from their visit, but overall, I love this climb. Its very do-able, in good condition and a nice reward at the end.

Great views at the top, the pathway itself is an amazing effort of stonework. Not great for older people as it is steep with lots of steps but it’s a really fantastic way to do a fabulous hour of exercise fir the vast majority of the family. Nice vegetation changes as you progress up the mountain and interesting rock formations. Free and natural, thoroughly enjoyable.

Steep grade 4 track, so use care.

Suitable providing your fit to walk challenging rock, note it has many narrow sections and rocks can move so take care, high winds on some days can also be experienced near and at the top.

As snake season is here be aware where you step. Take water keep hydrated.

Most of all if you have a good fitness level you should do this easily but bear in mind while it’s a short climb it is indeed steep so walk carefully and avoid the hottest parts of the day.

This is a great walking trail with many good scenic points up to the peak of Mount Coolum. Not too taxing for this 65 year old, but I was overtaken by many other walkers on the trail. A must do walking trail on the Sunshine Coast.

It looks massive from a distance, but in fact we comfortably managed to reach the summit in 30 minutes. We are an older couple in our 60’s with moderate fitness. Lots of steps so sensible shoes with a grip recommended. Take your water with you, you’ll need it at the top!

I'm fit and my partner ... well ... thinks he is. I was fine with all the steps. My partner had a few stops in the first 50m but once he kicked in he was fine. We saw joggers, wanderers, pregnant women and seniors. For this reason I say decide based on your balance vs fitness. I've attached pics that are as bad as it gets. If you're not so stable on your feet maybe you won't enjoy it. It took us an hour to go up and back and it was a windy day (25km/hr). You wouldn't want much more wind than that as it may affect stability.
