Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This museum of how people lived and worked in Buscemi in the past is not a collection of items displayed in one location. It's much better. You walk through the town with a knowledgeable guide and visit the little buildings where these activities actually took place. Of particular interest to me were the mill where the grapes were pressed, the various workshops and the homes. More than most museums of this type, you get a sense of what life was like.

This is a living history museum of Italy in the past. As economy changed this town was essentially abandoned in the 1960's. It shows a way of European life that comes to life when seen but was difficult to comprehend through reading alone. Not far from Syracuse and worth the visit.

We visited this hill town as part of a tour group. Because many young people have left the town for larger cities, many of the houses were empty. A group there has turned them into a museum representing what life was like in the 19th century. Different houses display different things. We saw two houses where peasants used to live (very small, one room with a loft), a place that demonstrated how wine was made, a house where a wealthier person lived (several rooms), and displays of shoemaking, porcelain repair, and so on. Due to rainy weather we didn't get to spend as much time in the town/museum to see all the houses that were open. If you go, definitely allow yourselves a few hours to see it all.

This place looks like a town that time passed by. It looks like most of the residents left and they haven’t changed things for years. It was interesting for our group to visit some of the homes and get a look at how people lived years ago. It was a good stop.

Today, by chance, we discovered in the desert of indifference and hyper-technological materialism, an oasis of cultural, artistic, historical and human richness: the ethno-anthropological "museum town" of Buscemi, in the province of Syracuse. A "unique" in Italy and Europe, where you can visit, even virtually, the places of work of Sicilian farmers, from the shoemaker's shop, to the oil mill, to the farmer's house, and learn about the materials and artefacts produced by farmers and local artisans. An emotional journey into the traditions of a world that almost no longer exists, which, however, continues to live on thanks to the commitment, passion and resilience of those who have dedicated an entire life to the creation and protection of the museum, Mr. Rosario Acquaviva, our guide, expert and competent. We invite those who find themselves spending their holidays in these places in Sicily to visit Buscemi, the museum town, where in a few hours you can take a journey into the recent and distant past, which we absolutely must preserve, to defend our identity.

With local friends we spent a pleasant evening taking part in the night visit of the eco-museum route....
We took a dive into the past...
Unique experience among the streets of the town of Buscemi to discover the enchanted places where the life and work of traditional Sicilian artisans took place with their families...
The impeccably clean and tidy environments and rooms are full of hundreds of period objects whose use was narrated in an exceptional way by Mr Acquaviva Rosario, our wonderful guide who led us to these magical places....

During our stay in Sicily we contacted Siracusa Transfer by Nino Romano. He accompanied us on a personalized tour of Syracuse, Modica, Marzamemi and Noto and we had a wonderful time. Nino is a very professional, courteous and nice guy and in addition to taking us to the places mentioned above he gave us excellent information. We want to thank him publicly for the excellent service provided. We recommend contacting him and you won't regret it. Thanks again to Nino on behalf of Loredana, Cinzia, Maria, Danilo and Luciano
