Battery Hill overlooking the township of Tennant Creek is named after the original ten-head stamp battery. The 1930’s site echoes the soul and spirit of the miners. Underground Gold Mine tours are conducted regularly. Take self guided walks and meander past the historic machinery. Pay a small fee and enjoy Freedom, Fortitude and Flies; the social history museum and Minerals Museum with its superlative McLaughlin Collection. You will be surprised, they are worth every cent.

This might be the case for more than one day so check before you go. One person in attendance and very very helpful and knowledgeable. Hope to catch the tour next time.

Thank you for your comment and your understanding. We are operating on a minimal staff at present, but hope to rectify that in the next couple of weeks.

Nigel was a great tour guide and was very informative. We learnt a lot and got an insight to how mines work. It was highly enjoyable and certainly worth the money.

I have driven through Tennant Creek a lot over the years and never stopped for a look around, it was very informative you do need to plan your visit to be able to go on one of the tours though.
