We love to get a Segway tour wherever we travel (if available) and this was our fourth tour. From start to finish, this was a professional company and I would recommend them to anyone asking (and even to those who don't ask). A group of 20 of us were picked up from Ayers Rock Resort and delivered to the site where we were divided into groups of ten. One group started gearing up and learning how to ride the Segways, and our group was walked over to a place where the aboriginal people have worked and taught their youngsters for thousands of years. The talk was informative and fun, and imparted to us how sacred and important Uluru and the other nearby rock formations are to them. By the time we completed that part of the tour, the first group was off on their Segways and it was our turn to gear up and learn. They took folks who had never ridden a Segway first, so to give them more time to practice. There were two people working and it was entirely one on one coaching until each person felt comfortable. I like that they had a practice course that simulated the narrowness of the trail at some points, tight turns and different sized bumps - it was accurate to what we actually experienced and when we came upon them on our tour, we knew we were up to navigating them. The tour itself was packed with historical information about the area and I can't emphasize enough how respectful our guide was of the people who live(d) here, the area and the history. The tour was in no way a dry facts-only thing, it was lots of fun with clever anecdotes and plenty of time to get off the Segways and take photos. The website discourages anyone 55 and over from participating, but I would recommend this tour for anyone 12 and up with the balance and ability to stand for a couple of hours. My husband and I are in our 60's and had no issues.
If that's not enough to tempt you, wait until you see the $100,000 toilets!
