Mick and his team were incredible. I highly recommend this trip for its rugged terrain amazing waterholes incredible scenery great company and brilliant guides. The heat is quite tough so it’s worth being able to easily hike 10 km with a 10-15 kg back pack before you leave. From the pick up in Darwin, to the daily surprises from micks pack of culinary treasures, to the pleasure of meeting new hikers and the solitude of the trail, it was a fantastic experience.

This trip far exceeded expectation. We loved the food, our highly skilled, humorous, relaxed and efficient guide Mick, the paddling was enough to feel like we had put in effort, but not strenuously exhausting. The landscape was beautiful and calming, and it was wonderful to sleep under the stars and do a little planet gazing. I took my 12 and 15 yr old kids with me and they really, really enjoyed the experience, including the challenges of the rapid sections on day 2. My son is also going to buy himself a fishing rod after being shown the joys of fishing by a fellow canoeist. We thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and highly recommend it if you are considering it too!

We jumped on the 3 Day Katherine River Kayak Tour a day after completing the Jatbula Trail. So lovely not have to think about planning and food prep. Travis and Isaac tirelessly looked after our diverse group of 10. They were professional, good humoured, knowledgable and amazing camp fire cooks. An immersive experience on the Katherine River with relaxed paddling plus a nice shot of adrenaline and adventure each day on some grade 1 or 2 rapids. Felt safe at all times and head guide, Travis, was a wealth of information on the river, its birds and plant life along its shore. His love and respect for the river in all its moods from flood to dry was obvious. Lots of swims and loved sleeping under the stars. Food was delicious, healthy and plentiful. Must do trip for active adventurers in the NT.

We did the 6 day tour with Mick and Snowy in mid June. We had a ball: the kayaking was relaxing and beautiful, with the occasional adrenalin surge for the rapids. Sleeping under the stars was amazing. The food was really good and well thought out, but best of all Mick and Snowy are genuinely wonderful and caring guides and I wholeheartedly recommend you spend some time touring with them!

I cannot recommend Gecko Tours highly enough. These guys are super professional and show deep respect for the environment, the local culture and for each other. You will feel genuinely well cared for. Their local knowledge enhances the experience - you get to see things you would likely miss if you went it alone and on top of everything else the guides are just all-out legends who are great company, you couldn't ask for more. 4 friends and I just got off the Jatbula trail with Gecko and it was the best holiday any of us have ever had. We didn't want for anything. The only downside is they might have ruined hikes for us forever as we're not sure anything else will ever live up to the experience. If you're not sure whether to go it alone or get a guide I can say from the perspective of someone who was skeptical about the guided option that it was worth every penny! It turned the hike into an extremely relaxing holiday. I am already saving my pennies to head back to the NT and get on one of their other tours.
