About
Top Didj & Art Gallery offers a genuine Aboriginal Cultural Experience. Manuel Pamkal, winner of the Tourism NT Brolga awards in 2013 for outstanding interpretive guide, is happy to pass on his traditions from Aboriginal contemporary life after playing a traditional welcoming tune on the didgeridoo. Manuel will teach you the fine art of Rarrk Painting and give you the chance to paint your own masterpiece using a special brush made from a reed called Jalk. This fantastic 2 1/2 hour interpretive experience will provide many other hands-on activities such as lighting a fire using two wooden sticks and learning how to throw a spear using a traditional woomera. The owner Petrena is a wildlife carer, so at times you get to hold or feed baby wallabies. View and purchase some of the best Aboriginal art and didgeridoos in the Northern Territory. This cultural experience was so much fun. Manuel is so lovely and friendly. He had great stories and gave everyone insight into indigenous culture. The spear throwing and fire making was so cool! Absolutely loved this.

Such a fabulous opportunity to hear about life from a local aboriginal man, told from the heart. Manuel shares his story, that is the story of so many people around Katherine that tourists would otherwise not get to hear. Learning to paint in the traditional way and throw a spear was a fun and challenging experience. Highly recommend this to all. The art gallery has an amazing collection for sale and the gift section is well stocked with quality products to remind us if our NT time

We had a fantastic afternoon here. Manuel was such an interesting and engaging host. We learned a great deal from his stories of a childhood in the bush. He taught us cross hatch painting and we each did a picture to take home. We also learned how to use fire sticks and to throw a spear. A really great experience in a lovely gallery space.

Come to Katherine and book into this fantastic cultural experience.
Suitable for all ages.
Engaging and so much fun.
Manuel was a fabulous host, who shared his personal stories and guided us all through traditional painting, fire lighting (without matches) and spear throwing.

We spent a morning doing the cultural experience, led by Manuel. Great fun painting, learning to throw spears and make fire. Good for all ages, and really interesting story sharing too.

Best cultural activity in Katherine! Top Didj run a fantastic cultural session including stories, fire making, spear throwing and art. Fantastic for kids 4+ up to adults, very enjoyable for the parents too. Little kids also have a toy area if they get bored by the activities. Sensational experience, highly educational and authentic.

Amazing experience for the whole family, we all loved hearing Manuel’s stories and the painting and cultural activities were fun and interesting. I highly recommend this activity, well worth the price, it’s been the highlight of our trip

Highly recommend this cultural experience. Manuel engaged us all with his stories of growing up in the bush. Then we learnt painting with traditional brush. This was followed by fire lighting and finally spear throwing. Really fun afternoon for the kids.

You can but a donation would be a good idea. Or purchase something small.
Do you let people walk around your place and look at stuff for free?
Also the money goes to the artists or running costs and they are wildlife cares
