Fantastic and insightful presentation from Manuel. He speaks with such humor and balance. His story about his culture and his personal experiences left the whole room entranced. Make sure you book to create your own artwork using traditional methods. Our kids and we adults loved it.

This experience was spectacular from start to end. Manuel made us all in the group feel like part of his tribe. The experience was interactive all the way through. We learned how to say some sayings in his language, paint traditionally (Manuel and Gavin were super helpful as it is quite intricate!), fire start and hunt traditionally using spears. Manuel gave a very personal insight into aboriginal life and was very inclusive and funny. All the staff in Top Didj were super nice and the experience was just great fun. Definitely a must do. Thank you!

We did the 2.5 hrs Cultural experience with Manuel and learnt a lot about Aboriginal life, history, traditional paintings, hunting techniques and culture. The time was flying and we enjoyed every minute. He told us great stories about his childhood and he is a a great teacher when it comes to art. This cultural experience is highly recommended as well as the Art Gallery. If you spend some time in Katherine take the opportunity of this outstanding experience.

Manuel’s joy at sharing stories of his childhood growing up on Country is very interesting. His enthusiasm and passion for his culture and sharing it makes for a fun experience. An interactive workshop of listening to his stories, painting our own art under his kind instruction and some spear throwing. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels and lots of fun. I would definitely recommend this activity for anyone visiting Katherine.

Manuel shares a beautiful story which really opens your eyes to the Indigenous culture and how people lived in the bush. Our whole family loved every moment of the experience from the storytelling, to the painting, fire starting and spear throwing. Each aspect was wonderful. The other staff members were also incredibly friendly and helpful. A definite must do if you are visiting Katherine.

What a great experience ! Manuel gives you two and a half hours of fun and learning. He begins by telling you some lovely stories of his past….really interesting…and playing the didgeridoo and sticks. Then the fantastic experience of getting to paint with a water reed. Marnee helps you……wonderful lady !!…..and you are taken through each step until there in front of you sits a great little painting, done by you ! Manuel shows you how to start a fire and throw a spear from a woomera, with complete hands on steps by all his guests. Everyone there gets to try it all and Manuel is SO good with the children…..as is Marnee. This is a must-do experience in Katherine.

This is worth every cent! What a great place to get oriented to the Northern Territory and Australia's first peoples. Alex, Petrena and Manuel have created a brilliant show. Take the kids and you will be amazed how much is included in the price.

We had a great experience listening to Manuel's stories of his childhood and growing up. The didj welcome and song were fantastic
The art lesson was great and we had so much fun and help from Manuel and the team. Not as easy as it looks and gave us a new appreciation for indigenous art.
The fire making and spear throwing was a great way to top off the day.
We thoroughly recommend a visit

Spent an afternoon with Manuel, hearing about his childhood, learning some of his people's language and looking at the fabulous art, by him and others, in the gallery. He tried to teach us how to hunt (although we were not the best pupils). Highly recommend a visit; he is an interesting and engaging man.

Can you just visit to see the art and gallery without the admission fee
Written 29 June 2019
You can but a donation would be a good idea. Or purchase something small.
Do you let people walk around your place and look at stuff for free?
Also the money goes to the artists or running costs and they are wildlife cares
