Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is just amazing. The formation is just wow. Around it you'll find several windmills ans they're fantastic to look at.
The one thing that worries me is that the area is not managed very well and local government allows vendors every where. It's an eyesore especially the misplaced CR. I felt that in the long run, this place will be endangered by too much commercialism.

Reserve more time if you plan to go there for there are several activities you can do while being there. You can go up the hill to take pictures of the wind mills upclose or perhaps do the stations of the cross. Going down you can ride the horse going to kapurpurawan, a friendly tour guide would love to show u around. Tired of those activities, seat and relax order empanada or buy mini windmill souveneers at the parking area. I had a nice time out there. Definitely going back here

A great, wonderful reminder of God’s nature to create a beautiful rock formation. Tourists queue in going to the rock formations. Bring a bottle of water, wear comfortable shoes and bring hats to shield you from extreme heat.

It's not my first time to see interesting rock formations in the Philippines. But those in Kapurpurawan in Burgos, Ilocos Norte are among the most beautiful. Indeed, Mother Nature always comes up with breath-taking works! The place is really very scenic, but be sure to have something to protect yourselves with from the scorching sun! Also bring your own vehicle since there's no public means of transportation that could take you from the hi-way to the spot.

Worth going to if you are hitting Pagudpud. It was a beautiful day when we went and we managed good videos and photos! Am sure a professional photographer or even buffs would love this place for shots. We had kids and took the horseback which made the trip memorable for the kids. Dont expect any facilities, though. Sad to see that some tourists leave trash ( eg water bottles) during their walks =(

I have visited this site so many times now and just last April 2013, I found out that they did a major development in these attraction. Tourists are now not allowed on the white rock formation. Only a year ago I was able to take photographs on the rock itself. I have seen a lot of carvings made by vandals on the sandstone, which is probably the reason why they closed it off to tourists. Tourists can still go near the rocks. They constructed a cemented pathway where you can walk safely to the rock formations. But it is definitely not the same as before. It is really hard to eliminate disrespectful tourist, that is why they had to implement the new system.
I would have rated this at 4 but the new development took one star away.

We went to Kapurpurawan rocks this March 09, 2012. Kapurpurawan in Ilokano dialect means whitest. The rock formation is interesting. In one angle it looks like a sphinx. When you touch it, it has a sandy texture. You have to park your vehicle and walk for about 30-40 minutes going to the rock formation/ cliff itself. You can follow the trail with yellow flags. The trail is rugged and stony, so better wear a comfortable sandals or footwear.
The sun's heat may be too strong for you, there is an umbrella rental and water for sale to quench your thirst at the nearby store.
Due to conservation efforts by the DOT (Department of Tourism) the front view is off limits. You are only allowed to climb the back/ cliff part.
Kapurpurawan is located near Cape Bojeador, there is a sign board you can see on the road indicating it's direction.
There is also a small rugged rest room you can use.
There is no fee to be collected in visiting this place.

The best time to visit the Kapurpurawan is on early morning to avoid the harsh sun and the crowd.
The rock formation is approximately three kilometers from the main highway, which means that one needs to trek along a ragged trail. There are horses for P100.00 for persons who don't want to walk and quickly get to the hill. If you decided to walk, please bring lots of water and bring umbrella. Umbrellas are available and paid by donations only.
There is a view deck in the middle of the trail which can give you a nice view of the white rock formation.
There are lots of souvenir and food stalls at the parking.

We had an awesome view of the smooth, creamy-white limestone flaunting along the shoreline. Wanting to have a closer look, we are restricted from going anywhere near it and only took pictures from the view deck. We were told that it's not just to prevent vandalism and abuse, but over the years, it has become fragile and must be preserved from further deterioration.

How much is the entrance fee to go down in kapurpurawan rock formation? thanks for your help.
Written 3 February 2015
Well, they said that it's around Php20.00 or something but we were able to get in without paying so I really didn't know that there was an entrance fee until you asked.
