Beautiful bay and beach

A short drive from Russell is the beautiful Oneroa Bay and Long Beach. A lovely sandy beach which we enjoyed strolling along.

Easy walk to a beautiful beach
Jan. 2021
An easy stroll, mostly off the road, from centre of Russell to Oneroa beach. Scenic and beautiful, with a few good shaded areas under the trees.

A nice walk along the shore

This is a great beach to walk along and to swim in. Plenty of room to lie around and lovely old bachs to look at. It's an easy walk down to the beach, but a harder hill to climb on the way back.

Lovely long beach safe for swimming. Visited in afternoon and was very quiet. No amenities so need to take chairs umbrella etc. Worth a visit.

Bit of a walk from Russell but quiet and pretty

Was a warm day when we took a pleasant short walk over to Oneroa (Long Bay) and we're glad to find a coffee van on the roadside when we got there. Nice cold water and good coffee 👍.
Was quite overcast when we left so didn't bother to bring togs but wish we had.
Sand is very sharp though so take your thongs to leave at the waters edge.
Quite an old fashioned kind of place but so relaxing.
Pretty hills each side of the beach

Lovely

Just over the hill from the town of Russell. It is a bit of a walk both uphill, and downhill so if you’re not into the 3 mile or so walk then take a cab. The beach is gorgeous and the water is safe. We sat up under the shade of a tree and a picnic bench and ate our lunch.... taking turns swimming in the beautiful water.

While staying at Russell we walked to this beach each morning and afternoon. It's a beautiful stretch of beach and views of nearby islands add to the enjoyment.

Beautiful, relaxing beach

We went to Oneroa Beach many times during our week stay in Russell. Everytime, it was enjoyable. We walked along the beach, and sat on one of the benches in the shade, and set up an umbrella other times to enjoy the day. There are toilets and a coffee/food truck nearby. I highly recommend this lovely beach.

A short walk over the ridge on a nicely laid out path.A short drive though parking could be a problem. Not much in the way of seats but pleasant enough to sit on the sand.
