Historic church in Russell. Things to pay special attention to are the musket bullet holes in the outside walls and also the hand crafted cushions on the seats. Only a few minutes walk from the main street

While the church was closed a walk around the cemetery enabled one to gauge a little about the history of Russell. Cemeteries are not only the repository of the dead but a living document to the past - and Russell's cemetery fulfills this role well...More

Great little church packed with history. Try and spot the bullet holes. The surrounding cemetery holds many famous people. Very close to shopping area so an easy walk from the wharf.

The church's graveyard gives an insight to the people that came before us. The view from Flagstaff Hill gives sweeping views over a Russell and the Bays of Islands.

Even in pouring rain and strong winds this is a beautiful and peaceful place. The church is a place of quiet calm and the churchyard full of history.

A very pretty church, the oldest in New Zealand and with some interesting memorial stones in the adjoining graveyard.

Had our wedding here at 3pm in May. It was sunny and bright inside the church. The historic charm of the venue meant we did not need to decorate. Our guests enjoyed the venue.

Such a peaceful setting for this historic church, steeped in history. Wandering around the beautifully tended church yard shows generations of families buried close together. The interior of the church doesn't disappoint either, light and airy and the individual tapestry hassocks are unique. Don't miss...More
