These public gardens are such a highlight and perhaps hidden as away from most other historic areas. The plantings are grouped to offer stunning colour, esp. when the rhododendrons are in flower. We stay at the caravan park on its periphery and were delighted to...More

A wander by the river in the sun or dry through the well kept park is worth it. They must be proud of them as there was lots of staff working hard. Didn't themed areas make for plenty of variety, with tui and bellbirds about.

Totally enjoyed the gardens. Birdsong was amazing with Tui & Bellbirds singing in the trees. Water features were very cool and garden sculptures we interesting and artsy. Loved it

A really nice peaceful place to visit. The new memorial fountain that has just been recommissioning after many years is well worth a visit at night...suggest after Penguin viewing. Maticuliously maintained for a small town it is a real credit to staff of council.
