Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful trip through Ceahlau National Park from the foothills to Toaca peak. A real pleasure and a dose of fresh air. On the way down we stopped at the Dochia chalet, where we were received with hospitality and we managed to catch our breath with a cup of tea. A pleasant experience!

We spent one week in Ceahlau and our accommodation was right at the entrance in the park which was great because we had the opportunity to enter the park almost every day.
When it comes to comparing it with other similar parks in Romania, then this one could be considered the best.
The place is clean and there are always signs that are meant to show you the roads. It's almost impossible to get lost there.
The fees for entering the park are really low so this could be the perfect opportunity for everyone to try doing some trekking activities in the mountains and admire their beauty.
Friendly staff who helped us plan our itineraries.

It is a very nice mountain area, maybe a little bit exhausting when hiking, because the slope is kind of steep. Very nice area for nature lovers, especially the top of the mountain Ceahlau. There is also a cabin on top of the mountain, Dochia, where one can have a room, or just have a meal or a hot chocolate and watch the beautiful scenery. The top of the mountain can be reached by several trails with various degrees of difficulty, but all very nice. The easiest one takes 1.5 h up, and the most difficult ones may take around 7 hours up the mountain. Highly recommended for hikers (there is no other way to get there except by hiking).

Beautiful mountain with several attraction points and hiking trails with variate difficulty levels. The trail to Duruitoarea waterfall was very crowded when visited, probably because is one of the most accessible attraction in the area. Anyway, a healthy trip and nice photo opportunities.

Parcul National Ceahlau is a beautiful place in Romania. The mountain trails are awesome, must try the Duruitoarea Waterfall, Cabana Dochia and Varful Toaca! The trail has everything, forest, rocks, tree roots and amazing views. Also there are a lot of signs so no worries for getting lost. I loved it there!

Once you reach your destination, you are exposed to the dramatic scenery of the mountains and valleys beyond you. The climbing effort is definitely wort it.

The mountain roads are pretty steep, it takes a bit of effort to reach the landmarks but the scenery is worth it. We only got to visit Cascada Duruitoarea because it rained for two days after the first climb, but we will be coming again to see the mountain top and Cabana Dochia. Cabana Fântânele is under reconstruction currently.

It is a beautiful place for the people who like walking in the woods. You can discover nice places for pictures. After a few hours of moderate climbing you can find a hidden gem, Duruitoarea water fall. A must see place.

If you love nature this is one park you shouldn't miss. Lots of trails and photo opportunities and for those who like skiing during the winter there is a skiing facility. From Bicaz dam to the Bicaz keys, numerous monasteries and citadels (Sighisoara, Nemt) Red Lake, Duruitoarea falls, and lots of dirt trails you will not be disappointed visiting this area.

The route to the top of the mountain is tedious and tiring, but the sightseeing on the trail cuts your breath and makes you forget about fatigue.
From a touristic point of view, the route to the top of the mountain is filled with unique landscapes of the area.
Peaks you can rest are smartly arranged in terms of distance as they are accessible to any kind of tourist.
I recommend this route because it manages to completely disconnect from the agitation and negative energy of the city giving you a sense of tranquility and belonging to that area.

Hi Paul, could you please recommend me a tourist agency to visit Ceahlau Park ?

Hello!
Is the shortest trail of 1.5 hours hike to the top doable with children aged 3-10 years?
Thank you!
Written 26 July 2017
This trail is recommended for children too, though it depends on the children, if they are willing to make the effort. I saw many children going with their parents on this trail. However, it might be a little bit difficult for the 3 year old ones, unless the adults in the group offer to carry them on their back.
