Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small museum with an interesting local collection of historical items. A couple of hands on activities for the kids. Food was tasty but a little pricey. Lots of information about other things to do on the local area.

The Visitor Centre is typical of most Visitor Centres. But for one young lady didn't get her name but was very helpful, friendly and a fun person to talk to and engage with. She was very personable and we spent quite a few minutes discussing her trips as to where when and where she had been. The travel experience that she relayed to me showed that she is an asset as he can discuss and possibly read the person she is talking to be able to guide them in the right direction to what they are seeking.Very happy with my experience there.

The staff member attended to all of our needs, she was so full of information, our next experience was fortunately for us a free entry into the museum, pay or not absolutely well worth visiting and also when finished you must visit The Captains Galley for coffee and cake.

This information centre serves two very useful purposes, one as a great place for visitors to get all the information on the area from friendly staff. The other is a very nicely curated museum that provides visitors with a great insight into the area's maritime past, including a full whale skeleton at the entrance to the museum.

If you want to understand the Portland history, come to Portland Maritime Discovery Centre. Under one roof, this is where the Portland Visitor Information Centre and maritime museum are situated. You can get the "coin" to entre the museum through the turnstile. A huge skeleton of Sperm Whale (I think it's only the rib cage).

Staff are very helpful here, and the museum is great to go and have a look at the history of Portland. The displays are well maintained and informative.
