Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a pleasant experience. The tour guide was very informative about the town. Working as volunteers on a sunday, they should be paid. 😀
Thank you.

My husband and I had been here on our honeymoon and wanted to return to experience this tram ride. It didn't disappoint.

We went yesterday, it was a beautiful day. There was parking on the side, we managed to park out car and box trailer directly at the tram depot. It is 22$ per adult and the employees are all volunteers. The ride was nice and smooth. The lady gave us clear explanations while driving. We stopped at the water tower world war memorial for an hour and then caught the tram the following hour. I would definitely recommend to live a different experience.

The tram ride is a lovely activity. You pootle through the town and along the harbour front at a very gentle speed. You are provided with a commentary throughout the ride which was great as you get to learn more about the local area.

Although sightings are not guaranteed, there is a possibility of seeing wild koalas. We were lucky enough to find one and were let off the tram to take photos/videos.

The tram ride itself is definitely worth a go if you are passing the area and have time!

I wouldn’t necessarily say to make sure you leave plenty of time to see the museum. It isn’t very big (2 rooms) and there isn’t a lot to see.

The video being shown about trams in the museum was very interesting though!

What a wonderful way to spend an hour looking around Portland with an excellent commentary from the tour guide. We were very pleasantly surprised to find out that they would let our dogs ride on the tram , initially they said on the open carriage but then the weather came in very wet and cold but without our knowledge they very kindly asked the other travelers if they minded if the dogs could travel in the closed in carriage with everyone. We were very thankful and our girls just laid down and went to sleep .
Highly recommended. The three volunteers on duty were very friendly and extremely helpful.
Well worth the $20 fee .
Well done Portland .

we spent a very relaxing and informative hour on the cable tram riding through Portland on a bright but cold sunny day. We were given a blanket to cover our knees as we decided to be outside for a better view. The commentary was very interesting if hard to hear at times ande the museum fascinating

We’ll set up operation and a credit to the volunteers who run it. Trip takes an hour and options to sit inside or out. Beautiful crochet rugs for those cold days. Ticket is a keepsake of the tour and before/after tour, there’s a shop, museum display, miniature train track and toilet facilities. Parking is level and close. Fun and informative.

Great trip - if you're visiting Portland don't skip this. Good recorded commentary on the points of interest and history of Portland supplemented by lots more from our friendly conductor. Note that the tram currently operates as a round trip from the depot and back again, not as a hop-on hop-off services serving the intermediate stops. Lots to see at the depot too. To all the volunteers that make this happen, thank you.

On a nice sunny day its a great ride from one of two to the the other, lots of things to see and the yet get to hear a very good history of Portland and the area. Can be chilly so if its cold take a coat.

This organisation shows just what volunteers with passion can do. Beautifully restored trams running right through town along the waterfront. Great commentary during the trip provides a nice history of the city and the harbour. Overall a must do activity when in this fantastic port city.
