A great way to introduce your kids to the past and help them to appreciate how good they have things today.

Great for all ages. The range and quality of artifacts is wonderful. The people who work there are all volunteers, so they are there becasue they love it.

The Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum is tucked away in a quiet street in Pialba at Hervey Bay, Queensland. You could easily drive past it and miss it. It may have a small street frontage, but covers a big area. The village has an excellent array of early buildings including a blacksmith's forge area with demonstrations from time to... More

The staff members of the Hervey Bay. Historical Society did a great job organising the centenary of the great Urangan Pier today. Every one of them dressed well and recreated the history agaun. Lots of fun and free activities for young children. Such an eventful day.

The Museum was a delight to visit and although looks small from the front, is quite deceiving and has a wonderful variety of buildings with amazing memorabilia that allows one to step back in time. There is a picnic area where families can cook a sausage, sit and ponder what life was like in Hervey Bay in its early days.... More

I have just been to the Museum today and really enjoyed looking around! It looks small from the outside but it goes way back with plenty to see! I love that they have collected lots of old items that you can look back on The ladies on the reception were also lovely and very friendly - Doreen was very helpful

The village I found to be a veritable treasure trove of history and memorabilia perfectly laid out for a relaxed and informative walk back in time. Along with the many indoor and outdoor static displays which can't help but hold your interest, there are interactive informative displays presented with a good dash of humor. Displays included, rope making, blacksmith work... More

Went with 2+2. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great displays giving a glimpse back in time for the whole region. Extensive range of items and well presented in various buildings (plenty of walking and stairs). Lots to keep the kids engaged and even some items to try like quoits and stilts. Highlight was the working demonstrations of wood working and... More

We had this place nearly to ourselves on a steaming New Year's Day. It was a great way to spend a few hours with three kids aged 7-11. The guide spent loads of time explaining different displays and was very patient with two girls who enthusiastically experimented with different colour combinations for the rope making. There was a great range... More

This was one of the most interesting places I've visited for a while. I love the idea of being able to be married in the little Church there. You really should check it out if you love history.

A great thing to do if you're looking for an outing in Hervey Bay. Have been here about 3 times, is interactive as you can walk into different houses and sometimes there are even live demonstrations which is sure to amuse children. Overall a very interesting place that has some of the earlier buildings including a school and a train... More
