Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Esplanade goes on and on - for 17km in fact - along the coast of Hervey Bay. If (like us) you're more interested in a shorter course, I'd recommend the section between WetSide Water Park (off Main St) and the Torquay Hotel (off Bideford St).
3.2 km in total, a pleasant path and shaded in many sections. In addition to the water park, you can take in Pialba and Scarness Beaches, the Historical Village and plenty of rest areas and eateries en route.
Take as little or as long as you like; a 45 minute stroll up to a few hours. Well worth it!

Started from the wetside water park till the marina. Enjoy walking on the beach but spent most time using the pavement passing through the activities playground, plenty of restos, cafe, shops and nice places like the Pirates Cave Souvenirs & Gifts. There's even a market known as Torquay Beachside Markets every Saturday.

My friend detoured on our way to the airport and showed me along Esplanade. Parking spaces were all taken during the lunch hour, but I could see the long stretch of the sandy shore between the shrubs. When we came towards the end of the Esplanade, it was rather quiet, so we could stop and enjoy the peaceful coastline.

I believe the Esplanade is around 7 kms long and the small strip of forest and scrub land extends the whole length on the beach side of the walking path..
Needless to say there are covered and open picnic areas, bbq stands, rest areas and toilets, with regular access paths to the beach along its complete length.
Wildlife, especially birds, are there in large numbers, especially Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and Rainbow Lorikeets. If you are as fortunate as we were you might see a Tawny Frogmouth hunting during dusk.
A brick paved walkway extends the complete length of the Esplanade through the trees and at night there is street style lighting for most of its length.
The walkway is a shared track with cyclists and unfortunately, at night, some do not have lights and think they are competing in a cycle race so keep you eyes and ears open.
Recommended.

Visited a few times during my recent stay in Hervey. I started my drive at Point Vernon and drove down to Urangan, stopping off to enjoy the views and a walk along the pathway. Plenty to do whatever the time of year.

Stretching about 5 km from the Urangan jetty to the Main St intersection the esplanade and walkway are in full use from before 5 am until late. The paved walkway has easy beach access and winds through well maintained parks and gardens with seating and picnic areas at regular intervals. On Australia Day it seemed that half of Queensland had come to enjoy it, and why wouldn’t you.

There are some 6-8 klms of walking/bike track around the seafront at Hervey Bay. Great for walking sitting or riding a bike. The bike track is off the road so safe for kids and parents alike. You can start at Point Vernon and ride walk all the way to Urangan Pier and further. No hills just flat riding. Coffee shops at Scarness and Torquay along with food shops and restaurants. You can also walk out on 2 small piers at Scarness and Torquay and the large pier at Urangan.

This is a great walking and exercise path to take. The view of the inlet and the mountains really make the walk even better. From where I live at the moment it takes around 40 minutes to get into the main part of town. The path is wide enough for others to walk past and the scenery of the palm trees and gardens are lovely too. Great shady areas to sit as well. At the end of the walk you can take a nice dip in the Lagoon which is nice.

Just to congratulate Council on the great planning to the whole beachfront of Hervey Bay. Some areas for kids, some "bushy", bits for caravans, or just a gentle drive/walk along the coast. Well done, keep it this just way.

Did not do the entire walk, just the strip along Torquay, but it is impressive. The path is wide and marked for 'sides', the lawn areas and shrubs are well-maintained. There are regular beach stairs or alley ways and, of course, the views are magnificent. There was at least one toilet block in the section I walked.

Hi. I am planning to visit in early March 2017, and have been told that the Aquaview cafe/restaurant is a good place for breakfast. Could you therefor advise of its approximate location along the Esplanade. Many thanks, Chris.
