About Freedom Whale Watch
Freedom III is a comfortable 58ft power catamaran which operates ¾ day whale watch cruises from the Great Sandy Straits Marina in Urangan Harbour. Departing at 9:30 and returning after 4:00pm allows you plenty of time with the awe-inspiring humpback whales in Platypus Bay. The cruise along pristine Fraser Island’s western beaches can offer sightings of dingoes, schooling fish and numerous sea birds. Expert commentary by our knowledgeable skipper will keep you entertained as well as DVD’s on the plasma TV. Colouring activities and soft toys will keep the children amused and if they are tired we have 3 double beds. Home-baked morning tea, tropical buffet lunch as well as fruit and cheese platters for the return trip are all included as well as tea, coffee, water and soft drinks all day. With maximum passenger numbers of 45 and three levels of viewing your whale watch experience will be memorable, informative and uncrowded. Outside of whale season Freedom III is available for Mother shipping charters. These trips are usually for 3 days and 2 nights and fish the abundant waters of Fraser Island. Get a group together for some great fishing action with experienced guides in smaller boats. The month of November is great for sportsfishing in Hervey Bay with the migrating juvenile black marlin visiting these waters. We work in Conjunction with Hervey Bay Fly and Sportfishing to provide Mothershipping for his groups of guests. Freedom III can also be hired for private day charters or overnight trips on the Great Sandy Strait. Your choice of activities: crabbing, boom-netting, swimming, sight-seeing and cruising the sheltered waterways between Fraser Island and the Mainland.

What a day. A friend who goes yearly recommended we come up and experience the whales. How could we say no. We booked with Freedom III Whale Watch Fishing & Dive charters and we were not disappointed. A great boat, with lots of room and very comfy picked us up at the dock. The captain was very knowledgable, pointing out sites on the way and then telling us all about the whales and finding loads for us across the day. What a magical experience to see these huge animals in their natural environment. Tale slaps, breaches, fins, we saw it all. We even saw a huge school of fish circling! Lots of wildlife on the way there and back as well. The food on the boat was seriously next level. We were so well fed and it was so well organised. Thanks for an amazing day out team. We will be back and wouldn't hesitate in recommending you!

The best day out you can have in Hervey Bay. This Cruise has been our favourite so far in Hervey Bay. From the moment you step on board you are looked after. Plenty of commentary from the captain about the the region & Fraser Island. We had several close encounters with the pods of whales, one pod stayed playing around the boat for almost an hour. The morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea was fantastic. Very well fed, with homemade scones. Well worth taking this tour if you can. We went in Sept 2020.

Many thanks for your wonderful review. September is a great time for seeing lots of whales including mums and calves. Those close encounters are very special and don't occur every day. Hopefully we will welcome you onboard Freedom III again next season.

Absolute sensational day. Keith is a great skipper, narrator and entertainer. He knew where to look while other groups were still searching. He makes you feel part of the family and brought everyone together. The whole day was great including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and the whales greeted us as well. A group of three came alongside the boat, a mother, her calf and another adult. Awesome to experience. We took the 3/4 day tour as we thought a half day woudn't do it justice, so glad that we did. Keith stayed out a little longer as well, talk about value for money, just brilliant. By the way the food was great. Toni cooks the best chicken wings, they were tender and delicious. The scones, jam, cream and profitoroles were baked by Keith's wife and Keith respectively and were supurb then the fruit and cheese platter for afternoon tea topped it all off. Bring a container with you for leftovers. Freedom 3 is also a great and very well maintained vessel. Keith, Toni and Rhyce make an awesome team and nothing is too much trouble for them. I'm coming back again, days like this are to good to do only once. Thank you so much Keith, Toni and Rhyce it was great to sail with you.

Last week we did a trip on Freedom lll & had a great time. Although it was getting late in the season & the chances of seeing lots of whales was an issue but we were not disappointed in our sightings. We saw a mother & baby up so close it was fantastic. We did see lots of pods further out thanks to Keith's keen navigation skills. The food was amazing & plenty of it. Many thanks to Keith, Sue & Toni for a terrific trip
