Djinang walking cultural tour with uncle Joe (Butchulla) Uncle Joe is an amazing storyteller and a fascinating character. Has so much knowledge and an exceptional manner to keep you engaged. We went for a walk and discovered not only the type of plants and trees but also how his ancestors lived for thousands of years in this beautiful land the connection they still keep with the land and nature. A lot to learn and discover. I highly recommend this walk tour with uncle Joe. Thank you Harvey Bay Eco Marine Tours. The Ramirez van Haeringen family - Brisbane 2021

Pelican banks was stunning! The crew were very friendly and shared a great deal of knowledge of the area. Uncle Joe’s Welcome to Country was a great experience. Our family of four (10 year old and 8 year old) really enjoyed the open water snorkeling too. Highly recommend for families with kids old enough to give the snorkeling a try, the calm water was great for beginners. Would definitely recommend 😊

Had a fantastic day exploring Pelican Bank, snorkeling the reef of Woody Island with Harvey Bay Eco Marine tours! We had Uncle Jo Jo sharing his indigenous cultural insights and entertaining us with his jokes! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hervey Bay!

We loved our trip despite a couple of niggles. I am sharing them here so that you can be prepared NOT to put you off booking (in fact DO book into this tour. We had shared with the organisers that we had to be back as near to the scheduled return time as possible as we had an appointment we had to keep. We were getting a little anxious when the tour didn’t start on time and the crew decided to serve drinks before leaving the dock. We were concerned that the trip would seem rushed. The boat was full with a work outing. Not an issue, but not the relaxing evening we had envisaged (until we got to our Round Island stop). Just try to make sure you don’t need to rush anywhere immediately after so you can relax into the experience and not worry about time. Boat crew Jimbo an our guide Jo-Jo we’re great. Very knowledgeable and we loved hearing Jo-Jo’s stories - what a character! Unfortunately we dawdled a bit walking around the island and missed much of the indigenous experience. The sunset on its own was well worth the trip - not spectacular but just so peaceful. Nibbles and a drink are included. We had great fun peeling prawns and watching the silver brim congregating for the peelings. Plenty to snack on and even with a full boat I don’t think we managed to get through all of the prawns.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I just thought I would let you know that there is a method in our madness of serving the complimentary drinks before we depart - It is much easier to serve the first drinks while we are stationary as opposed to travelling through the channel, and everyone has a welcome drink in their hand as we depart the harbour. Very happy you enjoyed the cultural experience and Joe Joe's stories. Also pleased you enjoyed the local seafood and there was plenty to go around. Hope to see you again one day. Kind regards.

If you've reached this point in the reviews - trust me - don't hesitate any further - just book. We had the best day and 24 hours later are still incredibly relaxed. The team were amazing. Knowledgable. Professional. Friendly and eager to answer any cultural questions you could have. Jojo performed a Welcome to Country" ceremony which was deeply moving and an honour to see. Pelican Bank - what can I say - heaven on earth. No photos would do it justice. White sand. Isolation. Crystal clear blue water. We lay in the water for almost an hour without moving. From the boat, we saw turtles, a dolphin and a stingray. We snorkelled - and any beginners got a huge helping hand. The equipment was provided!!! All the facilities on board were top notch. Clean and comfortable. It's not very often that you feel a group tour has ended too soon - but this one did. Set aside the whole day and arrange a dinner out - to soak in the experience and relaxation when you get home. Don't hesitate - book now before word gets out.
