Nice local museum.

A step into Kaikoura's history with very informative displays. Very well presented but though the price of 10$ per adult is a little steep for a local museum.

The lady in charge on the day we visited was very interesting to listen to and very passionate about Fyffe House and its history. So much to see here - everything is very well set out.

We spent two hours looking around at the numerous displays and artefacts from times gone by. The information is well presented and the house itself has some small original sections open to view. Great to be able to be hands on with whale bones and smell the blubber! Easy to imagine the families living in the small house with magnificent... More

Take a step into the past. Interesting and full of little surprises. View the whale bone foundations and climb the narrow stairs to the bedrooms.

An amazing piece of Kaikoura history, very informative. Shelley told the s a lot about the place, the people that lived there, the whaling. Lovely things in the shop.

Fyffe House is hidden in plain sight. It is a pink, unassuming house. We were the only visitors at the time and had an informative tour. The house is historic and related to the once thriving whaling community of the Kaikoura area.

The oldest house in Kaikoura - this little cottage dates back to the 1840s and reminds us of the living conditions experienced by the early settlers in NZ. The unique whalebone foundations show how people built using locally available materials - the original settlement was a whaling station. The interior has lots to interest visitors but isn't too heavy -... More

On a rainy day I visited this little museum outside Kaikoura town. It's quite nice to learn a bit more of Kaikoura's history and the way people lived in that house. You can walk through the house on your own. Outside you'll see the house's foundation and fence poles of whale bones. Awful whaling industry in my opinion, the location... More
