Beautiful Marina with lovely eateries a few gift shops and play area for kids. Look at beautiful boats or feeling energetic walk or run the loop follow the path over the bridge circles back to the start. Lots of sculptures and info on the way.

Definite stop off for coffee or lunch by the water at the town basin. Good food and shops. Can do the 4km loop walk.

Lovely days have been spent perusing the local shops even though some locals see them as touristy shops...I love them and what they sell. When you need a break you can stop and visit any of the local eateries varied in their specialities.

Very family orientated. Lived the dog friendly culture, great playground. Shame about all the works but otherwise its lovely

Whangarei is an eye opener for first time visitors. Its not a large town ,but it has an amazingly complicated traffic system in the town center that turns even light traffic into gridlock. So avoid it and concentrate on its many glorious bays,beaches and marinas....More

Cafe's, couple of really nice galleries (one of which is a cooperative that showcases local art) glass blowing, kid's playground, all beside the Hatea river with a really cool marina and on an easy walking route called the Hatea Loop. A Whangarei i-site is there...More

Very cool waterfall and track down to the bottom of the falls. Walk takes 20 minutes return and is for all abilities

Took my grandchildren to the park and they loved it. So many to things to play with. I suggest to that you put in more toilets. Hard to tell a young child to hang on because the 2 toilets are occupied. I don't know if...More
