First day out of Auckland with many miles to go. Broke the journey with a visit and even though it was out of season the gardens were stunning and the gardener we spoke to was very friendly. Highlight was the 7 steps to heaven.

The Watergardens exceeded all my expectations. I booked to take Mum and Aunt, but found a paradise I have now visited three times in winter and summer. The gardens are meticulously maintained by a small family business. The tranquility is unsurpassed. Sit near a babbling...More

This quirky garden was a great place to visit on a very hot January day. I understood why the backpackers utilized the pool at the bottom of the falls for a snorkel lesson.

The road up there was a bit rough but the gardens were worth it. Well organized yet not too formal. The water pools were beautiful with all the wooden sculptures around them and along the paths. The waterfall was not at its peak but still...More

These gardens aren't spectacular but the attached restaurant held great promise. The coffee was fantastic, the dining menu looked very upmarket and the restaurant had a delightful ambience. The absolute gem was the guy behind the counter who offered all sorts of very useful tips...More

The gardens were written up as a tourist stop in the Foder's tour guide. They were well worth the windy, rough road it took to find this little gem. The gardens are well manicured with a large variety of native trees and plants and of...More

Beautiful gardens and manicured walkways which culminate in a steep uphill walk to a beautiful waterfall. You don't have to do the waterfall but it is spectacular. There are ducks to feed and numerous ponds to view as you meander through a beautiful scenic setting.
