- Liz Z3 contributionsTaste sensationBeautiful time of year to visit, the garden is vibrant full of birds, especially the Blue Wrens. Scones with jam & cream were warm, fluffy and delicious as was the boysenberry tart. We went away very satisfied thank you.Hi 968lizz We are glad you enjoyed your time here at the farm and took your time to write such a great review. - Gordon_HitchingsPerth, Australia23 contributionsBerry Farm… just beautiful! The Berry Farm never fails to deliver on every aspect. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous cottage cafe and the staff are just amazing. We stayed for lunch and the food was fantastic, especially the beef and red wine pie, which we bought a few more of to take home to Perth. The servings were so big and tasty we just had to ask to take our leftovers home for later, which the staff happily obliged. A MUST VISIT if you’re in the Margaret River region. The Berry Farm does it so well! We’ll be back again and again and again…Hi Gordon_Hitchings Thanks so much for your kind words and your loyal patronage for the berry farm. - What835 contributionsGreat afternoon teaCharming spot about a twenty minute drive from margaret River. The café is delightful. You eat among the birds , who will greet you with enthusiasm when you arrive. Service is friendly but when we arrived about 2:30 for afternoon tea (which they advertise) they had already sold out of scones and the berry sauce for the pancakes that we ordered in lieu. We tried again a few days later at 1:30 and they still had the scones with berry jam and cream. Sinfully delicious. Staff are great; ambience is great.Hey What Thanks so much for the great review you recently posted for the berry farm following your two recent visits. Sometimes on those really busy days we may run out of scones and the sauce for the pancakes so it is always best to visit the farm in the morning when the scones are fresh out of the oven. We are glad you enjoyed the food and the staff and we hope to see you again soon. - Mobile630241285101 contributionBest Lunch In Margaret River. Our favourite place for lunch with family and friends for the past 17 years. Best combination of value, quality and portion size anywhere in Margaret River. Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, proper playground, $10 pints, bring your dog, best chips in Australia, footy on the big screen by the bar and the animals that you can hand feed, make this an essential destination for visitors to the region and the only place this local family wants to frequent. Head to the cellar door for fortified wines, ciders, sparkling, relishes and the rest. Even the drive is beautiful.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 July 2024

Weather was perfect for outside dining in the garden Picnic style We enjoyed the platters and sausage rolls with wedges. Ordered a couple of pints from the bar (the barman did an outstanding job considering how busy this little place is). Had a couple of glasses of red wine. Decided to grab a couple of the Berry pies takeaway. Quick visit to the cellar door for some shopping and a few tasty treats.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 August 2024

At 1015 am today we went to the Berry Farm only to leave very disappointed by the rudeness and unprofessionalism of two of the staff. We have been coming here for years, and were only here at the end of June and as usual we had a lovely breakfast roll and the staff were lovely. However, after today’s rude responses from two staff members when we were only enquiring re what was available ( we didn’t know menu had changed)we decided to leave because we didn’t want anything on menu and stated that’s ok we will just leave it. The younger staff member (the one with glasses )responded to us leaving with a very sarcastic have a nice day.
We noticed that on the chalkboard they are hiring a new manager and supervisor, first thing I would recommend the new manager to do is staff training because if these staff member treat their customers so rudely they will lose more business as they did today. We are also shocked to read the responses to complaints on Trip Advisor, such a shame that such a beautiful place with mostly lovely staff is being ruined by the minority of the staff there. Furthermore, the responses re staff being pressured during Covid times cannot be used as an excuse for rudeness. Many places have been doing it tough and we have never encountered such rudeness anywhere. We come down to Margaret River a lot but we have been deliberately coming down more often since the borders were open to support the local businesses however, after today’s experience we won’t be back until your new manager is in place.

Hi Heather
I am aware that you have been in contact with the owner and have discussed your experience at length which is now sorted. New staff have been appointed to the position of manager and supervisor and we hope to see you again soon.
As for the responses on trip advisor, we take on board constructive feedback however, for malicious, unproductive, and pointless public feedback we will always defend our business and provide a bit of enjoyment to the thousands of trip advisor members who love seeing the humorous responses to faceless attacks on hospitality businesses like ourselves...

Just gorgeous! Worth the 15min drive from Margaret River. Very tranquil farm with areas the kids can explore and pick berries. Lots of wild life with ducks and chickens and even an emu. Dog Friendly! Bonus! The tasting room is a must, do your self a favour and try all the jams and relishes and sauces. I restricted my purchasing to a few things but could have bought sooo much more. All products made on the premises. The food at the cafe is amazing, try the scones they are very yummy with strawberry jam made there my Husband thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the pancakes, yummy. We will return! Well done The Berry Farm!

Our third visit to The Berry Farm and apart from restrictions due to social distancing with seating, we were not disappointed. Thoroughly recommend their famous Cream Tea and a visit to the Cellar Door. But the best part is the wild birds who love to entertain and the local farm animals in the neighbouring fields.

Hi NJKef
Firstly, thanks so much for your loyal patronage to the berry farm and we really appreciate your wonderful review. We are so glad you appreciate the restrictive measures that are in place that serve to adhere to the state laws we have to now operate under (unlike the reviewer above you!!!).
We are glad you enjoyed your scones and tea and had time to visit the cellar door. The wildlife is pretty special here and we are glad you were able to get up close and personal with the birds and animals.
We hope to see you again soon and we wish you safe travels.

I really just came here to say I often visit the bad review responses from Michael Skivinis' (The Berry Farm General Manager) many times because I find his responses hilarious. Having worked in restaurants and cafes before, it brings me 2nd-hand satisfaction to see him respond to petty complaints from customers in a humorous manner. That's all :)
PS: I visit The Berry Farm yearly with my family during our annual Margaret River trip. Nice atmosphere, good food, delicious condiments/liquor available in their shop. I've been about 4 times now. No complaints.

Hi Brendan
We are so glad you really enjoyed the takeaway options that are available from the berry farm during these restricted times. It is customers like you that kept our staff gainfully employed (or at least employed) and for that we are grateful.
Thanks again for taking the time to write us such a great review and we hope to see you when things are a little more "normal".
Take care

I like to read reviews. The manager here answers all reviews and has that down to a skill - they could gain other employment with wit. Not out of fear I am giving a good review. Deciding to eat out later we wanted a light lunch. Ordered beef enchiladas ( hope spelled okay). Thinking not enough ordered home made hummus and crackers. Count Dracula would be disappointed and kept away. There was a high garlic element but the taste was wonderful. Then the beef dish arrived - enough to feed two. We left stuffed but so good had to finish. A great lunch and great value. This place is a credit to Margaret river. Many places could learn a lot and the staff were polite and thanked me for complimenting the hummus recipe. So I leave saying sorry to manager. I cannot give him/ her the joy of a witty rebuke to a bad customer. Keep up the good work. Very satisfied customer.

This cafe is well off the beaten track. We visited for lunch following a recommendation from a friend. There isn't a lot to chose from on the menu however, what we had picked - Red Wine and Beef Pie and Spinach and Ricotta parcels, both served with salad, are well presented and very tasty. The garden cafe itself is not the best ideal setting however, it does attract birds and they are known to join the guests.
The cellar door is a little further down the path and has a large variety of local produce to chose from, including jams, marmalades and wine.

Hi Georgie
Just had a look at your previous reviews and you are usually quite fair and positive...however, your average rating for the berry farm is a little disappointing considering that you enjoyed the food here.
Yes we do have a small menu however, there is more than enough to satisfy most consumers and our country kitchen is limited in size so we have to work within this limit.
Your statement "The garden cafe itself is not the best ideal setting" is a bit strange as the garden is the preferred place to sit to enjoy the atmosphere and food or you could have sat inside the cafe or on the veranda to consume your food.
Unless you have a phobia for birds, I am just at a loss as to how you could not enjoy eating your food in one of the nicest gardens in the region.

When we want a fix of delicious scones, jam and cream we know where to go while in Margs, they are so yummy and so so fresh.
Café was busy already at 10.30am on a Saturday, with tables booked ahead.
The coffee was like a cup of warmed milk and not nice
Haven’t seen any blue wren birds the last few times we’ve been

Hey Moji
Thanks so much for the largely positive review for the berry farm...but remember, if you ever don't like the coffee let us know and we are happy to fix your problem.
Yes we have the best scones in the world and there are plenty of blue wrens about but they are slowly developing their blue colors for the mating season. The boys and the girls look similar when it is not mating season but the boys turn blue when the game is on.
We look forward to your next visit. Travel safe.

My rating for the Berry Farm over this last weekend is no reflection on the Berry Farm so to speak but more to the unusual circumstances we all find ourselves in and the experience we walked away with. Hoping that 'Perth' had got its south west drive out of its system I ventured down with my Mum who needed to get out of her retirement village for a nice drive. I could not have been more wrong.
We rocked up to the BF after lunch and before closing hoping to get a quiet cuppa and one of their delicious scones/cakes along with maybe a soup. We did not even get that far. The line was going out the door and I was not going to inundate them any further, nor wait at that time of day. I am glad for the BF that the patronage is there as I have been coming here since my kids were small enough to climb the old Strawberry tree. We walked into the providore section to leave with a few favourites but alas they were no longer available. The Nashi Pear or Strawberry wine was replaced by the Passionfruit. We took one with us but sadly not to our taste. As we were driving all over looking at art and doing the things my Mum loves, we did not book anywhere other than breakfast and this is why at 4pm we were starving :) so word to all, the travel south is full on. The accommodation and restaurants are full and whilst I am so pleased for the businesses, as a traveller you need to be more prepared than previously.

Hi TrialRun
Thanks for the detailed review you posted for the berry farm following your recent visit with your mum.
We are sorry to hear that the length of the line was too long for you guys to consider staying to have an afternoon tea however, the line is long due to the fact that not many venues are open down here and there are still restrictions as to the number of people allowed in the front room (2 square meters for each person) to place their order at the counter and there is still the requirement of 1.5mtr spacing between people.
I have been making the wine here for 9 years and we have well over 20 wines on the list. Unfortunately due to uncertainty with COVID-19, the production of our wines have been disrupted. For instance, we still make strawberry wine but we have currently no stock but will be making it again soon. In regards to the Nashi wine, the last time I made this wine was in August of 2013...we obviously don't make this wine any more...
Your average rating of the berry farm during these unprecedented times is both unnecessary and unjustified as we have had an extremely difficult time during the restricted trading period to just stay operating and your review does little to assist us in our ongoing recovery which continues to be plagued with restrictions that we have to adhere to.

I managed to trick my family to the berry farm during the off season just so that i catch big daddy mike. He even gave us a big free gift.
Prior to visiting, I've seen how Michael jostled with the 1 star reviewers, and i have to meet the legend himself.
The berry farm is 15 mins from Margaret River town, and there's plenty of parking. Once there, we headed to the cellar for some wine tasting. Incredible, got some wine and jam for ourselves.
We then brought our little one to the farm where they have a bunch of animals. I'm sure my son managed to speak to them in bird language because everyone seemed excited. There's also 2 large playgrounds at the side which helps to exhaust their energy.
We then went to the cafe where i tried my luck to seek big Mike. Lo and behold, he helms the bar. Absolutely hilarious, humble, and generous - you won't know it's him who runs the show. He gave us the best gift of the day - a berry big hug.
So if you're looking for some good food and wine, some animals for the kids, and how to tear apart 1 star reviewers who have no idea about the hospitality business, Michael and the Berry Farm is the place to be.
Thanks Mike!
Cheers from Singapore

Hi,
Does Berry Farm accept any walk-ins? Our children would love to visit your berry farm and vineyard, is there any fee? How much is per person?

Hi
We didn’t book, just drove there and stopped for food and drinks. Walk around the grounds but not sure if you can access the vineyard. There was no entry cost but you won’t be able to resist there great food.

Hi Jane, you’re entitled to your opinion too, but you’ve never visited the property before. The owner is frustrated over some of the ridiculous reviews he’s receiving and is responding accordingly. It’s your choice not to visit. But when I visited in April I had a beautiful lunch and tasted many jams and chutneys in the shop. My children had a wonderful time at the playground. And I met the owner and his wife who were lovely and welcoming.
