Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The tour guide was amazing. Every stop was grand, particularly the Brown Hill stop - the family there felt like a warm hug. Obe Wan Kenobi (the dog) was the highlight, second only to Jane, who fulfilled every need.

What a really lovely day we had with Margaret River Tours. My wife and I were undecided whether to get a tour or for one of us drive and I'm so glad we opted for the former.
Our guide for the day was Jayne and she was fantastic from the beginning. Picked up on time and we were at the first of our tasting about 10am each tasting (5 in total) was introduced by our guide and then enhanced by the staff at each cellar door. Our tour was improved by Jayne taking the time to show us art galleries and behind the scenes of the wine making process. We'd never have done all that if I were driving.
During the course of the day we had a nice meal at Xanadu then a cheese platter which went nicely with our final stop. Then to top it off we stopped off at a lovely local artisan chocolatier.
Great value for money and lots of fun. Just keep up the water!

Three stars because for us, this tour probably has one winery too many in it. That may sound odd, but five in one day leaves your taste buds like a war zone, and you simply can't discern what's what by the end. Bear in mind you'll have at least six and up to 10 wines to sample at every venue. We probably tasted over 30 wines.
It is also a little rushed - if there were only four wineries, for example, you'd have a bit more time. There would also be less time in the minibus - by the end of the day we felt we had travelled a very long way.
We'd also been on the MR Discovery Tour, which by comparison, we much preferred - each to their own, that had only one winery, but it had a load more interest besides.
Stand out winery was Brown Hills - very modest, family operation, with the tasting led by a family membe. This is in stark contrast to some of the others, which are very 'corporate' - albeit the wines are still spectacular.
Lunch at Xanadu was superb.
Our driver was knowledgeable about the wines and the wineries.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review of your experience on tour with Margaret River Tours. We sincerely hope that potential customers will read your comments and this reply so that they will know what to expect on our Full Day Gourmet Wine & Dine Tour. In terms of us not meeting your expectations, it is worth noting that you booked our tour through a reseller, rather than direct through our website, and perhaps this is why you did not realise before getting onboard that we are a wine tour company, who has specialised in Margaret River wine for more than 27 years. We are not a general tour that includes sightseeing and other activities such as Margaret River Discovery Tour who occupy a very different niche market to us.
We nonetheless agree that it is each to their own and that we cannot be the tour that pleases everyone. We are relieved to hear that you found the lunch at Xanadu to be superb. At least you have that enjoyable memory to savour, alongside your experience at Brown Hill.
We encourage any potential customer who is reading this discussion to take the time to visit our website www.margaretrivertours.com, where we explicitly describe the exact itinerary that we offer. On our website, we also explain clearly that our pickup range is within 10km of Margaret River so that our guests can avoid a long transit picking up and dropping off other customers. We are aware that many of our competitors do not have this policy, which can indeed make a full day tour feel very long. As for the distance covered during the tour itself, in a wine region that is more than 95km long and 27km wide, our selection of wineries are all situated within 15km of the Margaret River Township. Perhaps you are not familiar with the wide open spaces of Australia. For us locals, 15km is not very far, but of course we could never disagree with the fact that for you it is, or felt like, a very long way.
We acknowledge that this tour was not to your liking and humbly accept that you took away two stars in your review because you felt you were offered too much wine. Perhaps, you could have considered holding back your glass, if you were feeling like it’s too much wine for your liking.
We also sincerely hope that potential guests will read your review to hear that your favourite winery was Brown Hill, one of our boutique selections, which sits amongst some more well-known, world-class cellar doors on our tours, which includes Leeuwin Estate, Xanadu and Voyager Estate. This comment will greatly help in reinforcing the high quality of the wineries we partner with on our tours. We sometimes worry that our potential guests will think we threw Brown Hill into the itinerary as a filler or an after-thought rather than as being well worth the stop. We agree with you, all of the wines offered on our tour are spectacular.
Happy travels, Adam.

Our original wine tour we booked got cancelled last minute but we were recommended Margaret River Tours. We were fortunate enough to get a booking last minute with them. Craig was our bus driver and tour guide. He was very knowledgeable in the history of wine in the Margaret River region. As we drove to each winery, he’d give a bit of a background story and share interesting facts. We visited Leeuwin Estate, Brown Hill, Xanadu, Voyager Estate, McHenry Hohnen and even finished the day with some chocolate tasting at Temper Temper. Lunch at Xanadu was delicious! Highly recommend adding on the potato’s as a side they were to die for! Personally I am not a massive wine drinker, but I actually really enjoyed doing this tour and trying and comparing wine from the different wineries. Our favourite winery was Brown Hill Estate, a family boutique style. We are a younger couple and our group was a mix of solo travellers and older couples, however everyone got along. We enjoyed our day! Highly recommend booking a wine tour through these guys!

We chose to do the half day tour. We were picked up from our accommodation and met up with the full day tourers at Xanadu Wines. We toured three wineries and visited the chocolate shop in Cow Town. Our guide was personable and sweet. The tour was a mix of older couples and younger couples. It would definitely do this tour again.

Adam was timely in providing pick up detail after we booked, Craig was very friendly and informative during our visit to the 5 wineries. It was a great selection of wineries for the small group tour, all in all a very enjoyable day in the Margaret River wine region.

What we liked the best was the super knowledgeable tour guide and the length and depth of the wineries. There was a mix of the giants and the newcomers with new techniques and flavors. It was a full day with 5 wineries, lunch and a chocolate shop. Our lunch at Xanadu was high level. This tour is a great way to see the county side of the Margaret River region.

Hi Ango39,
thanks for your question and I'm letting you know that I'm the owner of Margaret River Tours. Our regular tours, are not designed with children in mind. Our tours are all about wine & food in Margaret River and are primarily for adults. We can however tailor a Private Charter for famlies at an hourly rate.
I hope this has been of help to you.
Hi I would like to join the full day tour to Margaret River on wednesday 18 May 2016. Can you recommend driver and guide and the price for this day tour? We are tourist and currently staying in Wellington Street. Is this day tour will include pick up from our accomodation? We hope to receive reply from you at soonest possible.

Hi Karen. We did the full day tour at A$160 each. It was well worth every penny and would thoroughly recommend the full day. I think we would have been left wanting more had we only done the half day. Our driver was Andy. He was very informative about the wineries we visited, had a great sense of humour and got everyone chatting. We were picked up/dropped off at our accommodation exactly as arranged. I would have no reservations recommending this tour and if we are ever in Margaret River again we would definitely repeat it. Hope you book it and am sure you will have a great day.
