The tour of Kalgoorlie was one of the Indian Pacific’s “off train experiences”. It was without a doubt, the most unprofessional excursion we have ever experienced. The bus driver set the temperature to “arctic” and her microphone volume to eleven! After introducing herself as Catherine, she did not stop talking the entire time. Her commentary was extremely boring. She offered very little information about Kalgoorlie, but she told us a lot about herself and her family; where she lived, what time she got up that morning, when she was going to have dinner, where she went to school etc etc etc.
We were incredibly relieved to escape from the bus for our first stop, which was to watch a performance about the “history of the area”. It was amateurish and gave very little information. We then got to climb a large truck and look through a souvenir shop. What should have taken fifteen minutes tops, lasted at least an hour.
Looking at the open cut mine was okay but really, this should have taken five minutes, not over half an hour.
In retrospect we should have stayed on the train to catch up on some sleep, visit the club lounge or read a book, all of which would have been far more valuable experiences.

We had Goldrush tours for our stay here in Kalgoorlie our guide Wez just made the day perfect every stop, point of interest was made really enjoyable by his knowledge wit & humour .. we always say that a tour guide can either make it or ruin your tour but Wez simply will leave a lasting memory for me during my stay in Kalgoorlie ...
I came to Kalgoorlie not expecting much and will be leaving the more richer for it because of having the history of the area explained so well .. absolutely fascinating ...

Went on the 3 hour town tour. The quick visit to see the mine was great as was the 'two up' experience. Went to two commercial outlets which were just to encourage us to spend our money. Didn't see the railway station, the town hall or any other historic places.

Thank you for the feedback. We’re are disappointed to hear that the Gold Town Discovery tour didn’t meet your expectations. This tour is to give everyone a wider view of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to show case the hard to reach places that make our town unique, as well as the history of the town on how Kalgoorlie- Boulder came to be. This tour includes Hannan street, Burt Street, Mt Charlottle lookout, the Super-Pit Lookout, Two-Up shed, Chunky Timbers and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Our tour itinerary or advertising doesn't state that this tour will include a visit to the Town Halls or the Train station. The Town halls run their own tours thought-out the week by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. If you would like to discuss further please feel free to email info@kalgoorlietours.com.au or phone 08 9021 2211. We hope you enjoyed your Kalgoorlie visit.

Have just returned from spending the past 3 days touring the region with Harry as our driver and guide. Thoroughly enjoyed our time. Harry enhanced our experience with his impeccable knowledge of the region, having spent his whole life here and is a wonderful representative for Goldrush Tours and advocate for the region.

Unfortunately the tour didn't start until 21-30 due to the late arrival of the Indian Pacific. The excursion whilst being very informative and entertaining with commentary provided by the driver (Harry) it was not the best time of day to do a sightseeing trip (Not the fault of tour provider).

Our bus driver and guide was a long time resident of Kalgoorlie and there wasn't much he didn't know about the town. His commentary was informative and full of little stories and anecdotes. This day tour is excellent to give you a good picture of Kalgoorlie. I think we visited almost every part of the town including the industrial section and also looked at the historical buildings in both Kalgoorlie and Boulder. We went to the Super Pit lookout, the Tourist Mine, the RFDS and the Loopline Railway museum. A really good introduction into the history of Kalgoorlie and current mining industry.

My wife and parents recently toured Kalgoorlie and did the History and Heritage day tour. We found the tour very informative from the old to the new Kalgoorlie, our driver Harry was fantastic. He looked after us and ensured we had a great experience, he was a credit to the company. My wife's mother left her jacket on the bus and Harry new we were departing Kalgoorlie on the Prospector the next morning (7:00am) so he arrived at our accommodation with her jacket at 6:30am. The tour ensured our short stay in Kalgoorlie was memorable with a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), we left with a much higher respect for the work the RFDS does. A visit to the Mining Hall of Fame, the superpit look out, Boulder Town Hall, the suburbs of Kalgoorlie and Boulder and of course the pubs. We saw a lot, learnt a lot and highly recommend the tour.

We were only in Kalgoorlie for two full days so needed to see and learn as much as possible about the area. This was my second visit to Kalgoorlie and this time it was to show my brother, who is on holiday from the UK, as much as I could in a short time and the best way to do this was on guided tours. We had travelled by train, so we had no transport of our own.

We had no problems booking the history tour at the Kalgoorlie tourist centre the day before. We were picked up from our hotel promptly by what we found to be a very nice and knowledgeable tour leader. We were told and shown so much it's difficult to remember it all.

We toured many streets in Kalgoorlie and Boulder, stopping while the guide talked to us and getting off the bus to look at the Super Pit, a huge Dump Truck which we were able to climb aboard, the Loopline Railway Museum in Boulder, the Royal Flying Doctor Service. We walked the main street, Burt Street, of Boulder and were told about the Metropole Hotel at the far end that had a gold mine beneath it. There is a glass floor so that you can see down into it.

The tour was supposed to end at 3pm but there was so much to see and do that it didn't finish until 4pm and the bus driver didn't seem to mind one bit that he wasn't going home as early as he expected. Well worth the $90.
