Fantastic memorial
Jun. 2021
This is totally worth a visit. Had the 10.30 guided tour with Peter a local volunteer. He explains the story and the significance of all the parts to the memorial. It’s beautiful and very moving. A beautiful setting, gardens and also views over the city.

Lovely Memorial - Well Worth The Visit
May 2021
We enjoyed our walk from downtown up to the Memorial on top of Mt Scott. The memorial is so beautifully done with the story of the HMAS Sydney II all there to read as well as a full explanation of what the memorial represents. We believe there is a free tour each day at 10.30am, but we were not able to be there at that time - however, all the information is there to read if you can't make that time.

Beautiful peaceful memorial

Visited early in the morning so very quiet. The gardens are beautiful and really well kept. The memorial is amazing - really meaningful and well designed.

Good memorial
May 2021 • Couples
Good memorial with good interpretation along with names of all the ships company that went down with the ship. The dome is fascinating with all the 425 sailors represented by seagulls on the dome. I feel it was a pity that the memorial had to be paid for by local service organisations and not regarded as a national monument and funded by the Commonwealth in respect of those who died in their service.

A must see in Geraldton
May 2021
Very well made memorial and worth a visit whilst in Geraldton. Really reminds me of the futility of war and this offers a moving memory to the lost lives on the HMAS Sydney during WW2.

Stunning Memorial Architecture
May 2021
This is a really solid piece of memorial architecture that draws the visitor into the commemoration experience. From the wall of remembrance, information on the sinking of HMAS Sydney and the flag staff representing the Syneys bow and sculpture of the waiting women... amazing. Highly recommended.

Moving Memorial
May 2021
A visit to the HMAS Sydney Memorial is a moving experience, all the more so if you understand the significance of the elements of the memorial. The symbology associated with the birds wheeling in the dome and the Waiting Girl take on extra meaning.

Must Do
May 2021
This is our second visit to the Memorial. Definitely a must do when in Geraldton.
It sits high on the hill overlooking the town and the Indian ocean.
We managed to time our visit this time to join the free tour. Well worth it.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained all of the elements that were included in the construction of the Memorial.
It is a very moving place.
I would recommend that you joint the guided tour.

A marvelous memorial for a legendary ship. Serene. Bring flowers for the fallen.

A unique memorial to fallen servicemen
Mar. 2021
HMAS Sydney went down with all hands off the WA coast after an encounter with a German warship in WW2. This is a unique memorial to those men.
