About
Pets, including dogs are NOT permitted on-site at Flagstaff Hill.
Visit Flagstaff Hill during the day, explore the maritime village - arguably Australia's richest collection of Maritime history and experience Tales of the Shipwreck Coast Sound and Light Show in the evening.
The village is fun for the whole family, with children's activities and scavenger hunts on offer. Your entry includes a complimentary guided tour beginning at the Loch Ard Peacock at 11.30am. One of our knowledgeable guides in full period costume will lead the 45-minute tour, providing you with interesting facts about the museum’s collection and life in the 19th century.
As night falls, step inside the village to experience dramatic stories of Australia’s rich maritime history. Tales of the Shipwreck Coast takes you on a journey through the ages. From local Aboriginal stories to our colourful whaling past then to events that gave our coast - bookings essential.

Flagstaff Hill hosted my 11 year olds birthday party. The girls had High Tea, made jewellery and played old fashioned games. Everything was perfect and the kids loved it. I highly recommend this as a party option for any kids parties!

What a wonderful historical representation of how people lived and worked in the early pioneering days.
The facility is in pristine condition, lots to look at, read about and take some quirky selfies.
Easy to get around at your own pace. The day we were there the lolly shop was closed and the tea rooms were holding a private function. However the friendly staff did advise us of this when we arrived.
Would highly recommend.

So informative and so glad we did this before heading on the Great Ocean Road as added so much more context and understanding to our trip. The staff were also brilliant, knowledgeable and welcoming.

This is a great place to visit for all the family. Three generations of our family spent a fascinating day here. Do go on the guided tour of the museum and look out for the peacock. There are many hands on activities and our grandchildren loved making the wooden jewellery box and the tool box. Thank you to all the volunteers . The evening show is brilliant too.

A great insight into both the history of Warrnambool and the nautical past of the area in particular the ship wrecks. The village has many buildings and shops that show what life was like in the 1800’s. There are a couple options for food and a well stocked gift shop. There are tours available and at night there is a light show but we didn’t stay to watch it. Allow for no more than 2 hours to get around the whole place. Definitely a place to visit especially to get a really good understanding about both the history of the area and the nautical aspect.

Is it dog friendly?

Yes, dogs are permitted in the village, not in the historic building but everywhere else. There are dog bowls around the village and there is outdoor dining at the tearooms so you can dine with your dog.

How much time should I allow for the museum?

There’s a tour at 11:30 most days, it goes for around 30 minutes. To tour the rest of the museum and village I’d say 2 hours.

Can I bring our family pet dog with us into the Village?
Mishaqueen
81 contributions
YES!!! You can take your dog there, as long as they are well behaved, is on a lead and you pick up after them. There is a dog drinking station at the entrance and also near the tea rooms.
Come into the visitor information centre and then come and visit the village. It’s much better than leaving your fur baby in the car.

Hello Yes the tours are very popular and booked out until early Feb. We don't do them ever day. If you email fshreception@warrnambool.vic.gov.au they will be able to update you on the location of the dogs on the dates you will be over here.
Thank you

Hello,
I would like to book tickets online but am a bit confused on the booking procedure. For the admission, does that mean the Flagstaff Hill Tour? Are there any 'normal' admission tickets without the tour as I would just like to see things at my own pace.
Thank you
Mordi35
Bendigo, Australia179 contributions
Yes the Flagstaff Hill tour is the general admission. There is a self guided or you can join the volunteer tour at 11am each day.
