Address
Neighbourhood: St. Kilda
St. Kilda is an iconic beachside suburb and one of the most culturally and economically diverse of Melbourne’s neighbourhoods. It is a traditional haven for musicians, artists and writers, drawn to the European ambience and fresh ocean breezes. At night, it can have an edgier side, but by day, it features a relaxed vibe – the market stalls, boutiques and outdoor bars display St. Kilda’s easygoing attitude. Ocean winds blow from Port Phillip Bay and waves lap onto its long and mostly deserted beaches. Rides whir at the world’s oldest operational Luna Park. On a lazy weekend morning, bikers cruise along Acland Street, showing off their motorcycles. But the late morning crowds are too busy at brunch to notice. St. Kilda is a perfect place to relax after a night out with friends.

Fantastic and thrilling experience.
Highly recommended. Expect to spend a full day. Checkout all the rides. Unlimited rides plus entry pass is fully worth it.

Check what's open before buying tickets. Take a hat and umbrella for shade. Very little places to sit in the shade. Don't waste time riding the Ghost Train. It is so bad (not scary and not even a.minute long).

The park is cute but very, very inefficient. There are long waits for the rides which are exacerbated by the staff being very leisurely in their processing of people, not filling the rides completely before sending them on their way, and not stopping queue jumpers. We were there for 3.5 hours and only managed 5 rides. Biggest complaint is the poor communication about wait times.
Do not expect a modern funpark experience, these are heritage rides but that’s fine. However there is absolutely no reason for the slow turnaround on rides, nor for the lack of prevention of queue jumping. We were told a 30 minute wait for the roller coaster, and there are “progress” signs along the queue saying things like “15 minutes from here” but these are annoyingly meaningless. We were not told there was a learner operator and the train was leaving at half capacity, ergo the queue moved twice as slow, plus the queue jumpers making everyone wait longer. We ended up waiting 1 hour 20 minutes, but it is hard to leave the queue because of the setup, , and even harder to tell kids that having waited so long we would have to leave the line. Staff should have communicated both the wait times accurately, and the fact the learner driver was slowing the ride throughput, so we could have made an educated decision not to go on that ride.

Not worth the money for our family of 3. My partner and 10year old daughter and myself. The rides were pretty lame. There was 3 rides that went upside down and that was good for those who don't mind going upside down. The rest of the rides were really for young people. There was no roller coaster working. No slides, no funhouse. The dodgems only had a very small area. The ghost train was pretty naff.
between getting in and side show alley and a light bite to eat (no drinks) and car park we spent just under $200. And we only lasted 3hrs.
My 10 year old was asking when we could leave. Which is unusual for a kid.....I personally don't think it was worth the high ticket prices, especially with the main ride down.

Luna Park is "Just for Fun." It's easy to recognize the giant laughing mouth, which is the entry to the theme park.. Generations of youngsters treasure memories of holidays at Luna Park. Luna Park has had a make-over recently, kids love it. The most spectacular feature of Luna Park is the Great Scenic Roller Coaster. The Heritage-listed roller coaster is the greatest continually-operating roller coaster in the world.

We ventured into Luna Park one Sunday afternoon with a van-load of young teenagers and let them loose on the rides!
A fair number of rides to keep the kids entertained for several hours. The scenic railway was unfortunately closed for our visit.
Kids had a great time.
Parking nearby is tough when busy, and is all metered / paid. If possible, take public transport.

Good day out, had plenty of fun, didn't go on all the rides, only ride we really had to wait on was ghost train and it was the biggest disappointment. All other rides we only had to wait on one ride. Wasn't too crowded but went a week before school holidays.

Visited on a Sunday in Feb 23

Tram stop in front of it and adjacent trams are not too far from the Park itself. There are plenty of parking around the park and along St. Kilda beach.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the kiosks at the front gate. Different types of tickets available from single to unlimited rides and family passes.

The Park is clean, but do be notified that due to the age and size of the park most rides are old and not as intense as theme park rides. Queue times can get more than 45min depending on crowd. We only went on one ride the Great Scenic Railway.

Carnival games were limited. Other facilities like toilets and benches were clean, food and gift bag shops were of theme park pricing.

There is usually a tram stop quite close by, on the day we went it was closed due to events so we had a little walk along the beach area.

Compared to Sydney this is older and a little smaller. My partner also said the clown face entrance was scarier. Looks impressive from outside with the scenic railway roller coast going right around the outside.

An entry fee is now required to go inside, but includes one ride. This works out cheaper than being forced to buy a whole day unlimited ride ticket etc, for people like us who only wanted to do one or two things. Additional single ride tickets are available at a premium or the day pass. You may check the math with current information but I think it you would do 3-4 or more rides, it was worth getting the day pass.

We didn’t eat, but there were the expected choices. We did play a game of the clowns, the attendant was friendly- if not a little teasing.

We went on a Sunday noon and it was lovely without being crowded. We rode the historic roller coaster which was just a good thrill level for me! We also made the mistake of riding the ghost train- for a single ticket premium price- I don’t recommend. It’s incredible lame- but then we still came out smiling.

Just be careful to check the opening hours before visiting as it is limited during certain seasons and only open on weekends or certain evenings etc.
