About
Friends of Nyerimilang shop at the park entrance. The semi-formal gardens and lawns surrounding the homestead contain an interesting collection of exotic and native species. Majestic Gippsland Blue Gums and Coast Grey Box on the cliff tops contrast with marshland in the valley of Maringa Creek. Nyerimilang attracts many species of birds including honeyeaters, black swans, pelicans and birds of prey. There are three bird hides in the park. Princes Highway via the Kalimna West Road. There are plenty of road signs along the way. Nyerimilang is just 10km by road north-west of Lakes Entrance.

The house is full of interest. To be reminded of the ways of the past and the history of the area was good. There was an event on the day that we visited. Live folk music and singing accompanied the tea and cakes served with tea. The grounds have varied habitats. Lake, forest, wetland, pond. Lots of bird life and butterflies. The trails are well marked and not too long.

We drove down the road to a very high point by the sea near Lakes Entrance where there was an historic 1884 homestead - Nyerimilang Heritage Park. The house was closed but it was very lovely to walk around it, with a temperate rainforest walk full of brightly coloured rosellas, a rose garden, a lakes lookout and an overgrown dam. It was all very atmospheric and quiet apart from the birds. Dirt road access but good surface. Watch for the free range chicken farm on the way - if you stop all the hens will come to the fence.

Well maintained buildings and grounds in beautiful bush setting. Not able to inspect inside the homestead but still worth looking through the windows. Various walks and nice views. The old farm buildings down the hill from the homestead were particularly interesting. The Parks Victoria Visitor Guide for this attraction is available near the entrance and provides useful information on the walking options.

Lovely property about 10 mins from Lakes Entrance. The homestead is open only at certain times but there is plenty of information around to learn about the place including photographs. There is a few lovely walks around the property including one down 95 steps down to the jetty with nice views and an easier walk to farm sheds. There's a small swing set for young children near the entry buildings and a small shop (again open at certain times). We were here on a windy and cold day however this would be a lovely place to picnic and venture around on a sunny day.

Bush walks were just dirt roads through marsh but still relatively nice. lots of picnic tables and a little playground. Couldn’t go in any of the heritage house areas as there were no volunteers there, I assume there would be on school holidays. Would’ve good to have some information to go along with the old farm equipment because it’s hard to tell what the machinery is without info. Bring mozzie spray.

The historic house and buildings are very interesting. Wendy was lovely - very knowledgable and helpful. The walking tracks are easy but make sure to take water and wear decent walking shoes and long pants on hot days (snakes!). There are many areas to have a picnic and sit down, and the gift shop was filled with locally made crafts and wears.

This was a wonderful attraction and I suspect few bother to wander off the main road to visit it. They should. I can just imagine how much better it would be with an on-site cafe (although I understand the logistics) and how much money they could make for repairs and maintenance if visits could be combined with art shows, concerts and the like. But the house is beautiful and the view is worth the detour. I commend all the hard-working volunteers.

great walks around the property. Excellent views of the coast. Dogs were allowed on a leash so we were all able to have a good look around. House only open when a volunteer available so one has to take potluck however grounds open all the time.

We stumbled across this place driving to Metung.
Large old wooden house that has views across all the Lakes. Well kept gardens and nice picnic areas.
Take insect repellent, mosquitos are monsters.

The house wasn't open on the day we went but that didn't matter, the grounds are lovely. The house is open by volunteers, if you go to the lakes Entrance tourist Information centre and they will let you know when it's open. My husband and I wandered around the grounds for a couple of hours. One spot has a long chair to sit and enjoy the view of the lakes as the grounds are on a hill. This seat is where we had our picnic, most beautiful view, then a wallaby hoped past right in front of us. There is a rotunda with a few really good paintings you just must see. There are hidden things;mainly animals for you to find in the paintings, it's really great, I think kids would love it too. No charge but there is a little box for donations if you like. This is the type of place anyone can enjoy.
