We visited the Lakes for a couple of days in Late Feb, our experience was unlikely to encourage us to return.
On three occasions we were verbally abused ,by presumably locals, concerned about cars with caravans taking up foreshore parking. On both days that we had our caravan attached, there were still plenty of parking spaces in all the parking bays. One of those days was a Sunday. We can certainly take our tourist dollars elsewhere.
We recognise this may be a minority group however it certainly has tainted our perspective of this beautiful part of Australia.
Can we suggest in order to relieve this local angst and disappointment to other travellers that council designate and publicise car/ caravan parking bays so the locals do not get offended by the tourists that keep your town thriving.
A very disappointing visit that we have not experienced anything similar all the way around Australia.

Lake entrance is one of the must-visit destinations in northeastern victoria. it has a small town, along with fishing ports, a beautiful lake, and plenty of family-friendly parks nearby. the best part of this trip was the scenic ferry ride along the channel connecting the Gippsland lakes.

We expected more...if you don't have a boat not really a lot to do. Restaurants were either poor or overpriced for fancy slamm portions. Beach is lovely. It's a strip development...no real village feel and a bit ugly. Overall I wouldn't bother going back.

No matter how many times we come here, one thing always remains constant; Perfection. It is a long drive from Melbourne, but it is very much worth it. Beautifully kept beach, soft sand and blue water... I cant recommend it more highly.

Really nice wide beach. Very soft sand and well patrolled by the surf life savers.
Was a little disappointed with the waves though - wanted bigger!

We stayed at Lakes Entrance in gorgeous accommodation we found on airbnb. Lucy Kissed Nino was perfect for us. It was walking distance from beach, shops and town centre. Very clean, modern and comfortable with cooking facilities, large yard and lots of parking. You can even bring your dog! Recommend Lakes and the accommodation in a heartbeat

Had a pleasant walk along the beach very clean and patrolled. The bridge over the inlet from the main street is lovely and the surrounding areas and parks are very clean. Ideal for sitting down and enjoying fish and chips.

Love this beach... 90 mile beach in Lakes Entrance. One of the cleanest beaches around. Easy access for everyone. nice easy walk from town & plenty of room to take the family & a ball to play with.

Just a quick note, if visiting Lakes Entrance don’t forget about the marine life. Across the foot bridge to the main beach, there is a 2.2 km walk to the 100+ year old man made ocean entrance that provides most of the Gippsland Lakes with its water. The walk can be taken along the surf beach, inland on a sandy man made path or along the shores of the lake itself. You will walk past lizards of all sizes and some of the oldest beach huts in Victoria. Once at the entrance you will meet the seal colony that feast on the schools of fish that fill the lake on in coming tides. We were lucky to see 12 seals, 3 dolphins, 1500 sea birds and 5 pelicans all dining out on fish. The walk is pleasant there and back and is suited for all ages with a toilet block at both ends.

I had a day on the wharf ... no golf because of in-house competition so was our sea food day. No point in burning urself in the heat when u can pick good size crabs. Price is not gonna break ur bank. Try it next time, you are in the Lake Entrance Region...

What are things to do in lake entrance during 2 nights stay in mid January 2019 please

The beach is brilliant from the surf to the lakes there is 90 miles of beach and even if you dont swim the walk is fantastic. Go out on a boat trip down to Metung and have a great meal overlooking the water.
Go to the Buchan caves (you will not be disappointed). Ask the locals they are all very helpful and will always give you ideas from a local perspective
