Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were staying in Tauranga for a few days so took a trip to the Hamilton Botanical gardens. There is no entry fee, but you can purchase a map for $2.00 to find your way around. This place is huge, so the map is a worthwhile purchase. The money for the map goes toward the upkeep of the gardens.
The gardens are stunning, and you can easily spend half a day looking at all the themed gardens.
There is also a cafe that serves hot drinks and food.

This garden is stunning. Designed by the same garden designer as the Melbourne Botanical gardens it has some amazing heritage trees and an old world feel. Beautiful whimsical Fountain and gazebo. Oh and a giant amphitheatre with love music in a rotunda some weekends.

On many occasions I've visited this park, because it's simply a beautiful place to spend a lazy afternoon.
Very well layed out with plantings and paths . Very well maintained with plagued trees for easy reading. Everything about this park revokes a sense your back in the old days.
On the slight negative from the last time I was their a couple of years ago.
1..... the emus seemed to be missing.
2..... the toilets were fenced off completely
3..... the magnificent fountain is fenced off completely
4...... rabbits and bird were missing
5....... 2 amazing 100 year plus trees had been cut down due to Father Time. ( areas around this were completely fenced off.
So all the fencing and portable toilets sitting on a trailer weren't a good look.

These gardens are well maintained. There are a lot of seats and tables scattered throughout the gardens, with paving going all around the gardens. There's a large Rotunda in the middle of the gardens, public toilets, a pond with a bridge where lots of ducks were swimming and a nice BBQ area which is located near the playground. A nice place to walk around and enjoy all the flowers, have a picnic lunch or BBQ or to take the kids for a play on a nice day.

What a pleasure to visit! Give yourself lots of time to enjoy these stunning gardens, multiple themed gardens reflecting many types of plants and places. Beautifully planned and maintained enclosed gardens; plus pleasant walks, woodland, lake pathways and Rise gardens.
There is something for everyone. Plan a stop at the lovely cafe and great little information centre and shop. Enjoyed by families and also good access for those in wheelchairs. Areas for dog walking in leads as well.

We enjoyed a stroll through the gardens this morning. The history was preserved through plaques and notices. The aviary is currently under repair with only peacocks strolling unsupervised. The original garden's cottage was a delight.

Wiliam Guilfoyle did a great job designing these majestic, small but shaded Botanic Gardens.
I liked the aviary and the peacocks as reminiscent of earlier times. The lake is great, as is the large number of mature trees.
It is an easy walk from the railway station where V/Line coaches from Ballarat, Mount Gambier, Casterton and Warrnambool congregate.
In 2020, the Gardens will be 150 years old.

If you find yourself in Hamilton I insist that you make a visit to the Botanic Gardens. Drenched in rich history and immaculately kept, this is a spot not to miss.
An amazing array of flora with great walking tracks, a large bird avory, plentiful spots to have a picnic and an easy walk from anywhere in town. To those that upkeep this amazing garden I applaud you. Definitely a highlight of hamilton!
Great for picnics, romantic strolls or for tourists and families!

The Botanic garden is a hidden gem, not to large so its easy to walk around with magnificent trees and plenty of shade. A great place to visit on a sunny day because of all trees, I would recommend it as a perfect place for picnic or barbecue. There is a playground for children, a flight aviary to see birds and a lovely pond with ducks, close to town and easy to walk to.
