Balyang Sanctuary is a beautiful, peaceful spot that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys nature, birdwatching, or photography. I spent a wonderful day here exploring the walking paths, taking photos of the birds, and admiring the serene lake.
The variety of birdlife is impressive, making it a haven for photographers or anyone who appreciates wildlife. The bridges offer great views of the water and surrounding greenery, adding to the charm of the sanctuary. It’s a fantastic place to slow down, take in the scenery, and enjoy some fresh air.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to relax or a scenic location for a walk, Balyang Sanctuary is definitely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Break between chores on road and hey, it’s lunchtime.
Serene pit stop at Balyang. Grass, shady gums, pelicans on lake.
Picnic tables could use some TLC but good enough for my need.
Simply a lovely spot in Geelong to recharge by nature.

Took a stroll around the Balyang Sanctuary in Geelong a few weeks ago and was a lovely place to walk around and enjoy some peace and quiet. Enjoyed our time here watching the pelicans, racing along bridges, trying to throw each other in the water and mature things like that.

Its no more than a park really. Not complaining but no tourist should consider as a destination. Really should not be on this site.

Take the toddler here regularly to see the ducks. Also can see pelicans on occasion. Nice boardwalk and places for a picnic.

Love taking my dog for a walk along the river here, I constantly do whether its hot or cold weather. Unfortunately there are a lot of cyclists and they enjoy taking up much of the room, expecting everyone should move for them, a bit more consideration for all on walking tracks would make it a much more enjoyable time for everyone.
Would love for all people with dogs to take note of the fact that dogs must be on leads, even if you think your dog is good off a lead it can disturb others who have their dog on a lead, and be courteous of if people don't wish to have their dog stop and interact with yours.

A lovely quite parkland with picnic tables on the edge of the Barwon River. No swimming allowed and parking is free.

Lovely park to wander around or have a picnic at for the whole family. Wander around to see many birds and possibly a platypus. Utilised by local dog walkers, runners and cyclists, come see why

We went here for an anniversary dinner, and the food was fantastic, all served at once and very nice and hot, plenty of it too. Will come here again for a lunch, pleasant gardens outside too, very nice outlook.

Overly area. Plenty of bird life. Photographers delight! Walks are well laid out with bridges over wetlands leading into the Barwon river. Toilets available (very clean). Nice areas to sit and watch the world go by.
