About Twisted History
"Join the team at Geelong Gaol Ghost Tours inside an intact 19th century Gaol exploring the darkened halls & cells to hear the stories of those who lived behind these walls … and who perhaps are still here! Known as the “Prison of the Ill”, this building once housed a host of convicts, murderers and lunatics under extreme conditions. Stand on the gallows, see the grave or be flogged by the ‘Cat of nine tails’ on our nightly ghost tour or for those who are brave enough to explore the world of the Paranormal, join the investigators and become a ghost hunter for the night searching for evidence that the paranormal truly does exist! Are you brave enough to enter the gates ...... after dark?"

A visit to a closed gaol is always a good way to learn about the history of an area and Twisted History brings the gaol to life as you are led through the gaol by lantern light and stories are told about the punishment meted out to villains and also some that weren’t villains (like the mentally insane). The death rate was high (and not always by the hangman’s noose) and the conditions in the cells until 1991 were spartan. The ghost stories are told with a certain amount of glee and just the right amount of scaring the pants off the attendees. If you are in Geelong, go along and get some of the local history.

This was a very fun thing to do at night. The stories were good and very well told. It was also a nice way to get to see parts of Bendigo. I highly recommend it.

Possibly the greatest thing to happen in Bendigo, even better than the 70,000 tonnes of gold to be excavated from the area! The best Ghost stories from the area told and knowledge of the city second to none! A must do! Don't miss out and regret it forever.

Enjoyed it. We turned up as per "Please check in 15 minutes prior to your tour" - WHY? They didn't open gate until 18 minutes after that, and they didn't even check tickets/names! Really hate queueing like sheep for no reason! Ghost tour and info was ok.

Very informative about the lives of the people of the era and their lives inside the prison, the harsh horrible unrelenting realities of the time with which they lived.
