Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife has always loved carousels so was instantly attracted to this indoor refurbished nineteenth century example which adults can ride. I counted her ride as 14 circuits which represented good value for money. Allowing parents to stand alongside their children who were taking a ride was a sensible arrangement.

My wife and I visited this place during our recent stopover in Geelong, en-route to Bellarine Peninsula for a holiday.
Overlooking the harbour with spectacular views out to Corio Bay is the modern sail like steel and glass pavilion which houses an extremely rare and beautiful Armitage Herschell Carousel dating back to 1892.
Alongside the Armitage Herschell Carousel is the display of an historic pipe organ with detailed craftsmanship. The restored organ plays a collection of colourful Dixieland melodies and gives the pavilion a cheerful atmosphere.

Waterfront in Geelong with the carousel and characters lining up and down is great - very atmospheric.

This used to be a landmark along the waterfront but has lost that bit of a charm when someone decided to put a building around it, presumably to protect it from the elements. Well, we can’t have the best of both worlds, can we?

Located just to the right of Cunningham Pier, the Carousel itself is in a rather fancy building. It can be seen from the outside as there is floor to ceiling glass windows. There is also a small tourist information booth at the entrance.

We visited this January and the Christmas tree lightings were awesome. A whole night with the sound of music lightings was there and scenic beauty of the ships, water in the night make an awesome day. There is also a flyer for the kids families to see the city from the sky.

This was a lovely little carousel ride for the kids. Cost $5 per person.
It’s 130 years old and was restored about 20 years ago.

Hi
what was this park called in the 1960/70s please? Are the dodgems still there? Jude

Hi Jude,
Thank you for your question! The park that was located on Eastern Beach next to the Yacht Club was called Highlight Park. Unfortunately this closed down many many years ago. We do however have a beautiful Ferris Wheel located in the same spot for over the Summer months, and The Carousel is located towards Cunningham Pier, and we are open all year round!
Kind Regards - The Carousel
