- Darkest_dreamingRedruth, United Kingdom419 contributionsLovely for familiesLovely beach, always very clean when we have been. It’s probably our nearest beach so we are there at lease once a month (usually more). There are multiple places to walk, swim, look for sea glass, a park, something for everyone really. There are also lots of food places.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 January 2024

Beautiful for walking, relaxing on lawn, having a picnic or swim. Autumnal scenes today with air still & temp 21 degrees. Awesome spot & views.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 12 April 2024
- WoodgateFamilyBrisbane, Australia345 contributionsSpend a few hours enjoying the waterfrontWhat a beautiful area, perfect for everyone both young and old. On a Saturday morning there was also heaps of parking. Almost spotlessly clean (some people need to pick up dog poop), manicured lawns and gardens, swimming areas, playgrounds, art installations, ferris wheel, carousel, cafes, train ride and the Bollards Trail. We spent a few hours walking from Limeburners Point to Cunningham Pier and back. From the car park it is also just a short walk into the city walking past some beautiful heritage building and also to the National Wool Museum.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 May 2024
- laurayinmayBangkok, Thailand1,477 contributionsA very soothing and calming experience even in winter it was beautiful and so relaxing.Very family and pet friendly here, since we came in the evening and it's winter it's quite cool but i think the beach was very clean and the views felt so relaxing. The cute wooden statues provided a comic feel along the beach with small gazebos to sit in. They circled in a safe zone for swimmers and there were people with wet suits swimming even in the winter. Restaurants and the gigantic ferris wheel is smack in the middle of the walk. Parking was plentiful and free if not mistaken. All in all a happy family area to be in.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 August 2024

Geelong's Eastern Beach Reserve is a good place for a family picnic. There's lots of space to spread o rug. The water is usually calm, it's a good place for children to paddle. The playground is fine for younger children. It's a good idea to bring your own refreshments, the kiosk can be a tad expensive. The beach is supervised by lifeguards in summer..

During a holiday in Geelong we had a need to entertain 2 young grandchildren in an area in which they had freedom to burn off some of their energy. We selected the Eastern Beach Reserve partly because it was quite close to our accommodation and it seemed an ideal area.
On a lovely autumn morning we walked down to the site with seating and shade accommodation alongside a built-in children's playground. It was easy to ensure that the children enjoyed themselves without too many risks of injury. The view across the bay was just so nice with a slight breeze adding to our enjoyment.
While we were there a party of about 30 primary school students escorted by a number of teachers joined the other people relaxing at this site. It was obviously very popular with these children who spent about an hour at the Reserve.
We would certainly recommend this place to any visiting family who has children who love runing around.

Geelong’s coastal beaches are really fun~
There are many recreational facilities along the coast,
There is a Ferris wheel, painted puppets along the road, and beautiful beaches.
Beautiful lawns and gardens for tourists to play, play and hold activities!
The painted puppets with stakes are very interesting, including guards and abrupt bikini girls.
The old man, the old lady..., against the backdrop of the blue sky and blue sea, it's so charming~

My kids love going here. Well serviced with parking, toilets, change rooms etc. best thing about it is that there is a shallow pool and an enclosed sea bathing area so you can choose to swim int the pool or the sea and it is all FREE of charge. The enclosed sea bathing area is ringed by a raised jetty area that big kids love to jump off. There is also a central tower that can be climbed for diving. Heaps of fun. Perfect place for an ice cream. Plenty of restaurants, playgrounds, Ferris wheel etc within a km walk. Families will love it.

Best small city in Australia, lot's of great attractions close by all within a 20 minute drive. Not as busy as Melbourne and has nicer beaches all around.
Good for a few days or a few weeks.

My wife and I walked along this place during our recent visit in Geelong.
The Geelong Waterfront is the main tourist attraction in Geelong with beautiful views of Corio Bay, the Geelong Harbour, the Cunningham Pier, the heritage Geelong Carousel, the Baywalk Bollards, the Eastern Beach Promenade and the Poppy Kettle Playground. In the state of Victoria, Geelong is the second largest city (behind Melbourne).

A safe enclosed beach with pontoons and diving boards with lifeguards supervising. Also there is a large children's pool this too has lifeguards looking on. There are very large lawns to enjoy picnics on.

A great place for a family day at the beach. Spacious lawn area ideal for a picnic, great facilities for the kids from the youngest to adults. Children's pool for the little ones, makes a safe environment for families. Cafe with take away food on site. Established in 1938 but upgraded only a few years back, it has always been popular with locals and visitors alike.

We brought our grand kids for a swim in the Bay Area as they are older and can swim well, to jump off the pier and other pontoons etc in this space! We were in the water for hours and as we got there early we got shade to sit under up the embankment. Great free fun. It got busier with groups and the smaller kids pool was standing room only. Make sure to bring your own food and drinks as the kiosk is v expensive.
There are surf lifesaving guards so that’s great in case of emergency.
Parking was easy if your prepared to walk and a bit of local knowledge helps.

Good day, we're planning a visit in the area in December. As this will be our first visit to Australia, we are absolute strangers. Where exactly will we find the bollards on the foreshore, i.e. from which point to which point?

Hi, the bollards are along the foreshore just west from Cunningham pier (50metres or so) at the corner of Moorabool st and Richie boulevard and continue for about 1kilometre to Eastern beach on Eastern beach road. It is a beautiful little city.
Other free MUST SEE things to do around Geelong are;
The great ocean road, the Otway national park (part of the great ocean road runs along the edge of this) if you head to Lorne and follow the signs to Erskin falls they are very pretty.
The You Yangs national park has excellent walking trails and bbq/picnic facilities and an abundance of kangaroos and Koalas.
The Narana centre is on Torquay rd in Grovedale and is an Aboriginal cultural centre with locally made Aboriginal art and souvenirs a must see in my book.
Enjoy your trip.

How much is it to park at Eastern Beach all day?
Written 4 January 2017
At the top of the hill above Eastern Beach there is free parking and free two hour parking. Down on Eastern Beach there are some limited three hour free parking (get in early) and I think metered parking for around $2.60 per hour.
