Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am a bit biased as my great grandfather was an early pioneer, operating a business in Echuca. The volunteers were most helpful and listened to bits of my family history, as I know it and showing us items such as newspaper cuttings that informed me more about my family's time in Echuca. There was a variety of items on display, from varying times from 1860's to 1960's.

We called by the museum to get some information on past relatives lived in Echuca, & to find out exactly where the graves are in Echuca cemetery. On a previous visit 3 years ago the lovely lady in the office said to call back on our next visit & they would help . I also found out that some of the exhibits are changed on a regular basis so there will always be something different to see. There is also have some great books on sale. well worth the entrance fee.

A great place to check out what went on in Echuca in days gone by. The enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff will certainly help you out. Collections of local memorabilia from government to local institutions.

Was a fantastic place if your a history buff!! LOTS to see and read to give you a feel for what it was like in the old days! Wonderful artifacts!!! LOVED all the old machinery and household items!! Just marvelous!!! And the lady working there was just lovely and was quite happy to give us a brief history of echuca and gave the kids a quiz sheet to give them something fun to do whilst learning a few things!! Great to see an old jail cell too!! Value for money also at only $12 for myself, husband and two kids!!!

Overall, for a small town museum, it is very comprehensive and well laid out. The old Jail cells out the back are an added feature.
However the photography restrictions are pointless, particularly given that everything is lit by flourescent lighting, not LED or similer 0 UV source.

Sorry this reply took so long...the photography restrictions are a reminder to visitors that , it is our collection and should they wish to take photographs (provided it is for personal use) we are quite happy to approve. Most of our photographs are copies so the lighting is not relevant, in fact we are currently updating the exhibits and removing any remaining originals to storage.
Do hope you visit again and have a chat with us.

Lovely little museum - fascinating collections inside (especially old photos and local clothes / awards / mayoral robes and outside machinery and an excellent police cell (and police equipment (and a very good documentary). Only problem was the focused attempt to close the museum well before its advertised close time of two pm. (just when a Saturday afternoon market was happening in the square opposite and tourists were at a maximum.)

An absolute must - as a traditional historical collection.
Nothing interactive, etc, as in modern museums. Young children would be less able to cope with the volume of materials!
But it is an extraordinary collection nevertheless as a reflection on life of approx 200 years of settlement in the area, housed in an old police station.
Really well curated into themes and aspects of life. The number of pubs in the area/town alone is extraordinary.

What time does it open and what is the price of entry? Is there a guided tour and if so how much does it cost?
