About
Cruise along the majestic Murray River at an ambling speed aboard the world’s only accommodated wood-fire paddle steamer. PS Emmylou seamlessly blends the old with the new to offer authentic luxury cruises that immerse you in a bygone era but with modern-day comforts. The old saying ‘it’s the journey, not the destination’ is indeed true for all our cruises, offered as two to six-night all-inclusive experiences. You’ll feel the warmth of the 1906 steam engine as the engineer stokes the boiler, you can climb into the wheelhouse to chat to the skipper, or just sit and gaze at the changing reflections in the water. Whether you’re captivated by the river, the region’s pioneering history or you’re yearning for relaxation, PS Emmylou offers it all.The old-timer cruiser provides a warm inviting atmosphere of a mid-1800s riverboat but without sacrificing modern conveniences. Each luxury cabin has a private ensuite, is individually air-conditioned, has WIFI and opens directly to outside deck

A truly memorable seven night treat made perfect by its exceptionally helpful and friendly crew of four. Though the cabins are a very tight fit for sleep, the day and evening time was spent elsewhere on the Emmylou and sometimes on the shore. Of course the Murray itself was the attraction and together with the old world charm of the Emmylou paddle steamer made it a most memorable and unique experience.

Had a great time. Food was marvellous. Staff most efficient and friendly. Engineers talk most informative. Cabin a bit tight. Great shower and a good group of fellow travellers. Thanks

What a fabulous 7 days! I loved every minute of it, the river is so peaceful and the voyage so smooth. Lots to see and do both on board and at each stopping place. The crew are excellent, they work together well, have great senses of humour and just can't do enough for you. The food is plentiful - understatement! - and delicious The cabins are compact but hold everything you need, I can't recommend this trip too highly, it was great.

From the moment you are greeted at the carpark nothing is too much trouble for all the crew of Emmylou! We have had 7 glorious nights cruising, eating, drinking, eating, laughing, eating, making friends, eating!!! Greg and Kris ensure every want is met in the saloon from Grannie rugs to sit out on deck to Trivia night!! No food request is too hard to handle from breakfast to Happy Hour ending with dinner every day! Engineers Jeff and Anthony shared their knowledge about the engine which was most interesting. Captains Neil, Warren and Richard skillfully navigated and steered Emmylou from Torrumbarry Weir to Echuca and back. As the Murray is in minor flood that was no mean feat!! Thank you to Scott for driving us all over the countryside. If you are looking for a relaxing break would highly recommend Emmylou!! Thank you Crew.

We recently travelled with Murray River Paddlesteamers on the PS Emylou for a three night cruise from Echuca to Torrumbarry Weir. The three night cruise which included all meals and alcohol (with meals) provided an excellent way to enjoy both the scenery along the river and the experience of travelling on an old paddlesteamer with its associated history. This, complemented by the friendly, knowledgable and efficient staff made for an excellent long weekend away. Scott, our Captain for the cruise, managed the rising river and the strong currents with ease, whilst simultaneously providing expert commentary along the way. The on shore excursions, at the 'beer can' museum (which proved to be so much more!) the winery, the old sheep station and the weir, led by Scott were excellent. The food provided by Andrew and Julie and the steam engine history lesson from Anthony topped off a great weekend away. Highly recommended.

The Emmylou Cruise was a wonderful experience. The food was out of this world, the staff very friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. Even though we have experienced many holidays along the Murray River, both caravanning, camping and houseboating, this was a whole new experience and we learnt so much about the history of the area. The other guests onboard, some did a 4 night trip, some did a 3 night trip, help make it a lovely trip away. With the Murray River rising, it was a sight to behold, something we have not experienced before. We thoroughly recommend Murray River Paddlesteamers and The Emmylou.

Very relaxing! It was also interesting to re-live some of our history and it was certainly a comfortable way to see the sights (and also sites) along the Murray. The campfires were brilliant. Come prepared to be spoiled by the wonderful staff who can't do enough for you. Great hospitality, great stories and great food!

Enjoyed a fantastic 3-night cruise on the Emmylou out of Echuca. The staff were all first class and couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. The food and beverages were of an excellent quality and the itinerary and land activities along the way were very informative. Something therapeutic cruising down the Murray with the gentle whirring of a steam engine and side paddles. Highly recommended

My wife and I had a lovely, relaxing experience cruising the Murray. Accommodation fantastic, as was the food, the staff and the other guests! Even Craig - the Cabin Boy was delightful to deal with.

We would highly recommend this experience to our family and friends!:)

A relaxing experience enjoying the history of the river with the paddle steamer providing a comfortable, warm place to share the experience with the other guests. The crew ensured that we enjoyed the excellent food, entertainment, on-shore experiences and stories. The rooms were comfortable and warm, the food plentiful and there was lots of laughter. I highly recommend PS Emmy Lou and Murray River Paddle Steamers.
