I cannot believe the crowds running around the lake at 6am, in the dark. The lake is pleasant with rowers, runners, walkers, waterbirds. There are under cover BBQs, public toilets, and the playground. In the mornings a coffee cart does good business here.

My wife and I stayed at Quest Central Apartments within walking distance from this place, for 2 nights during our recent holiday in Bendigo.

We walked to Lake Weeroona and walked around the 1.5 km circuit of the lake. This beautiful ornamental lake and reserve, set on 18 hectares, was transformed from a dusty mining area in the 1870s.

It is a very scenic place.

This beautiful ornamental lake and reserve was transformed from a dusty mining area in the 1870s. It's hard to imagine it being dusty and baron when it's so beautiful now. It's easy to locate on Napier Street (Midland Highway) and there are two distinct car parking areas on either side of the playground. There is also street parking that runs parallel to the road.

I drive past the lake a couple of times a day now I have relocated to Bendigo and it's always buzzing with activity. I stopped here recently after work so it was late afternoon/night fall... and even then it's a pretty place to saunter around.

The lake was much smaller than I expected, 20 minutes to walk around, taking photographs etc., 10 if you are walking quickly. I see many people walking their pets here too. The view is great though and there are seats all around to catch a breath if you need and enjoy the view.

A recent visit to Bendigo saw us return to this beautiful place to walk. A sunny day with lots of families and their dogs on leash the wide well paved path makes it ideal for walkers of all capabilities. The bird life and lovely greenery surrounding it provide interest and shade. An on-site coffee van provides excellent coffee to be enjoyed on your picnic rug or on undercover seating or seats around the lake. Off road parking - or drop off point - is available.

Lovely way to start or end your day is by walking around this pretty lake or bringing kids to fenced playspace.

TIP: Tysons Reef hotel is great spot for lunch or dinner. Also an excellent ice creamery nearby

Lake Weeroona is a lovely spot to just sit & relax, or to take a stroll around the lake..Plenty of wildlife to watch..And a large playground area for the kids.. During the day there is a Hotdog van offering a variety of different hotdogs. A mobile coffee truck also allows a choice of different drinks..

We recently visited Bendigo and stayed nearby. The scenery is stunning and relaxing. Their are walking/cycling tracks going around the lake, a restaurant serving great food and coffee and even an ice cream shop across the road.

It’s all just out of Bendigo with plenty of parking around it.

We were visiting nearby cressey on a conference so decided to take a day trip to Bendigo. Luckily it timed with the Australia Day long weekend so there was a big market plus some additional entertainment to mark the day. Very nice atmosphere, beautiful lake. Nice friendly locals.

Took our dogs (on lead) for a lovely walk around Lake Weeroona (1.4km). Plenty of people taking advantage of the facilities supplied. Lovely parkland and birdlife. We even seen remote controlled yachts being sailed in the lake - beautiful. Just be careful there were a few dogs OFF lead.
