About Bendigo Walking Tours
Our Summer tour schedule is available until Jan 31, 2020. **Please note tour times rotate on a daily basis, between 9.30am and 4.00pm. You can view tours times for specific dates via our website. Join Jill and Pete for their outdoor, guided walking tour through Bendigo’s historic centre and distinctive boom-style architecture. We describe how gold and mass migration transformed a sleepy sheep run and the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung into the world's richest city of the 1880s. We recall people, events and unprecedented wealth that built ‘Marvellous Melbourne’ shaping a new nation. We ponder Bendigo's leading role in campaigns for democracy, votes for women, unionism, and Federation. From radicals to royalty, larrikins to leaders, enjoy the quirky, remarkable, often forgotten stories of Bendigo. Government regulations are in place for your safety.

Jill was our tour guide and we met in the central and beautiful Conservatory and in Rosalind Park. There was plenty of nearby parking under the shade trees. The walk was gentle slope and gentle pace. Jill was our guide and she was wonderful - knowledgeable, humorous, inclusive and kind. I highly recommend this walking tour. You also end up in an area that has lots of cafes and restaurants

As you walk around Bendigo, with plenty of stops in the shade, Jill’s commentary brings the gold rush times to life. You can easily imagine the tents everywhere and the sound of the picks and shovels as the men desperately tried to get the gold out of the earth. Some interesting nuggets like the push for the 8 hour day coming out of Bendigo and also being the home of the demand for federation. Worth the time if you are interested in history.

Jill took us on a two-hour walking tour, covering Bendigo's history. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and were fascinated by how the Red Ribbon Rebellion movement leads to Eureka Stockdale and subsequently the Federation formation. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bendigo.
