Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just reading a review on the White Swan. As a resident of Ballarat we have tried to access the White Swan but have found it closed. Contacted the Central Highlands Water and was told no longer open. They say due to health and Safety but real reason is cost cutting. It was a great place to visit for picnics and barbecues but is another to suffer a closure to save the mighty dollar.

Green area with great trees. There are picnic shelters on grassed areas adjacent to sealed roads. We mini bussed it with a group of seniors. Views of actual water storage aren't exciting and access is limited. Don't bring your swimmers.

With lots of paths this is a great place for kids to run around and enjoy themselves. There's areas to look down and wave at those below, covered, shaded areas of garden and grassy areas to sit and have a picnic.

Accessible by car or bicycle from the Daylesford Rd in Bllack Hill, the White Swan and nearby Gong Gong reservoirs are lovely places for a picnic.
Delightful walking tracks and extensive gardens exist at both reservoirs, as well as well maintained picnic grounds.
Both are favourite scenic spots for wedding photos and it is possible to play spot the bride on Saturday afternoons, from spring to autumn.
Both spots are places of local knowledge, rather than to be found in tourist guides.
Both reservoirs were created in the 1870S to provide a safe watersupply to the ever growing town of Ballarat and remain its major water source to the present!
